Do you realize that if you first voted in 1976, this year's election will the first time |
|
the GOP hasn't run either Bob Dole or a "George Bush" on its national ticket?!
32 years--8 elections!
Check it out: 1976--Ford/Dole 1980--Reagan/Bush 1984--Reagan/Bush 1988--Bush/Quayle 1992--Bush/Quayle 1996--Dole/Kemp 2000--Bush/Cheney 2004--Bush/Cheney
Talk about a political party bereft of fresh blood and new ideas.
I think Dole was run as a sacrifice (Ford's pardon of Nixon and Clinton's popularity meant no GOPer would win those elections, and the Bushes didn't want to taint themselves)

6. Geeze - and Elizabeth Dole ran in 2000, too |
|
PLUS she's a Senator. I think the Dole dynasty has gone somewhat under the radar here!

12. They haven't picked a veep spot yet. |

McCain/Jeb anyone? :scared: (I joke, but it wouldn't surprise me with all of Florida's electoral votes, Jeb's conservatism, etc.)

14. oh my gosh- I voted for the first time in the 1979 NH primary- |
|
and chose Jerry Browne from Calif.- The voting age had changed to 18 so I could participate. I hadn't realized that on the other side of each ticket since then was a Bush or a Dole-
That's kind of creepy.- And odd.
peace~

15. And, that's opposed to: |
|
1976-Carter/Mondale (won) 1980-Carter/Mondale (won) 1984-Mondale/Ferraro (lost) 1988-Dukakis/Bentsen (lost) 1992-Clinton/Gore (won) 1996-Clinton/Gore (won) 2000-Gore/Lieberman (won, but had the election stolen) 2004-Kerry/Edwards (won, but shenanigans in Ohio put it in R column)
