Damn it, I want the Democrats to win. Period.
If Hillary gets the nomination, I will work for her and I will vote for her.

If Obama gets the nomination I will work for him (perhaps a bit more enthusiastically than I would for Hillary) and I will vote for him.

The stakes are too high and the Republicans are too dangerous for me to indulge any kind of childishness about whether Hillary is "too DLC" or not. She is a Democrat. And that means that my disagreements with her are a family squabble over which policies best serve the interests of American people.

My quarrel with the Republicans is far greater. There, the argument is whether this country should be run for the people as a whole, or for the benefit of those at the top. It is about whether we ought to have a rule of law that applies to everyone, or one that carves out exceptions for the "well born" and the powerful. It is about whether we have a middle class, or whether we move to being a two-class society. It is about whether or not our republic erodes into a semi-fascist state.

The Republicans are sometimes driven by a misguided devotion to dogma. And other times, their motivations are far more sinister. But in every case, I think they pursue an agenda that is bad for America and should be stopped. In fact, I think the Republicans ought to join the Whigs on the dustbin of history and replaced with something else. Their movement has become, in my eyes, just that bad.

With that mind, I will work to elect a Democrat to be the next president. If nothing else, it helps guarantee that our democracy will survive and that the progressive cause will live on to fight another day.

7. Oh, and plus, Romney is a robot
Romney was built by American Motors engineers. Call be a bigot, but I say America is not ready for a robot president.:silly:

6. So pledged. I'm excited about Obama (& just got my yard sign!), but will work for Hillary if...
...need be.

I want my country back.

10. And don't forget: We need to elect more Dems to congress.
We all know that the reich wing will go after a Democratic president with everything they've got. But if we have even more Dems in congress, the wingers can scream all they want, but I doubt there will be a bunch of bogus hearings and investigations into "Nothinggate" like there was when Bill Clinton was in office.

12. Indeed--then I'll work to steer the Party back to its progressive roots. But my son
deserves the country I knew and loved, so that means thinking as far ahead as I can.

It needs to be said--we need a Democrat in the WH and a Dem majority in both houses. Then we can strip away the non-progressive Dems and get our country back!

13. Any GOP nominee will be too damned dangerous...
...and will simply continue the pattern of secrecy and abuse established by */Cheney. Clinton and Obama come with their own problems, but without (I hope and pray) the unmitigated gall and monumental corruption.

14. You Working On A Campaign???
I'm talking about a local race...state rep or local Congress...the "downticket" races that are what will make your wish not only possible but sustainable. With so many GOOP Congresscritters resigning, the opportunities to elect Progressive Democrats has never been better. It's also important that Democrats control as many state houses and governships as possible...setting things up for the re-districting of 2010 and the control over the voting machines.

While I haven't donated a dime to any of the Presidential campaigns, I sure have to Congressional ones...and I'll be working on two local races this year. It's a lot of work and not that "sexy", but it sure feels great when you've made the personal investment and the candidate wins.
