Aren't Liberals the ones who are really 'politically incorrect'? |

And no, I'm not talking about not using certain names and words, because that's a lame definition of it.
There's a Right Wing publisher called Regnery that I'm sure most people here have heard about. Anyway, it publishes a series of books known as the Politically Incorrect Guides.
As I was reading up on it, I've noticed that these books are just talking points in a book form, how can these books actually be "politically incorrect" to a conservative who is reading them? They do nothing but reassure the conservative of his fringe views.
Conservatives like to think that being able to use derogatory terms and making stereotypical remarks is being politically incorrect. Is it? Or, is it just being plain incorrect?
Now, think about it. How about those who fought for progress, for civil and equal rights? Are they necessarily politically correct just because conservatives say they are?
Being gay in the Bible Belt? How could that actually be politically incorrect?
Being in an interracial relationship in the 1960's or even today in some instances? You can't tell me that's politically correct.
Here's a big one; criticizing Bush right before the Iraq War began? If you think doing that was politically correct, then you need to get your head examined.
Remember, most conservatives support the status quo. Is this really what being 'politically correct' is all about.
Now, I'm not saying that we should pick up the mantle of being 'politically incorrect' because it's stupid. Just consider that when it comes to opposing a status quo and supporting equal rights, the people who are truly 'politically incorrect' are not the people on the Right.

1. I've never thought about it like that, interesting |

I've always thought the "political correctness" stuff was a right-wing meme, so they could continue to exercise their white privilege uncontested. I still do think that, but you have an interesting take on it that I will have to consider.
