hello everyone! nice to be here on DU again :)
so the italian government led by Prodi vanished like late spring snow. it shared with late snow the feebleness and the cold among the coalition associates.
there's our Senate president now attempting to make a new government that should only make a new electoral law - to replace the present, that leads to feeble majorities and impossibility to govern.
the attempt is weak. the rightist coalition (led by Berlusconi and some other 50-60 year old "leaders" - u see, we're not for young blood here), divided and in each other hatred until 2 weeks ago, not it's united again. polls foresee victory for them - and power, and seats are very good glue.
indeed, the rightist coalition range from fascists to modern right to liberal (provided they know the meaning of the word, in this still Bourbons country of mine) to conservative catholics. and what about the Lega Nord, the party representative of the northern wish to divide from italy and have an independent country, to whom good immigrants are the shot ones and southern italy just a mess to get rid of? (someone tried to remind them of southern immigrates who made northern industry rich, and present african and eastern immigrants who make many a factory and agricultural business rich - but Lega activists have some problems with italian language...)
on the other hand, the italian democratic party said it would run alone in the next election - which i agree on - and the center left coalition does not exist no more.
what we're left is still Berlusconi (over 70 years old), Prodi (over 70 years old...) and so on - a class of golden pension holders who should really get busy with grand sons instead of rooting in our parliament.
there's a very good habit in country like yours, DUers. when your leader loses the elections, he goes behind the scene and candidates no more. in italy the sport goes contrariwise. that's why we'll ever be humble!
best things to u DUers, see u on line! ciao :)

maybe the president goes behind the scenes, but the family members fight for the job.
I must say, the Italian story is fun to watch, Berlusconi is truly an interesting figure.

The Knights of Malta are back in charge.
How long will it be before they begin to wear black shirts?

Remember him? He was closely tied to that gang too. People should read up on what he did to the partisans.
The James Jesus Angleton of the CIA and a Knight of Malta saved him from the hangman's rope after which he (Borghese) went to Bolivia to work with Klaus Barbie and the CIA.

6. yep! and the P2 illegal masonry, and Gelli... |
|
...and so many VIPs still circulating in italy wherever there's smell of public money and finance. the president of the Region Sicily was sentenced lately in a first process (there's appeal and maybe one more grade before sentence is definitive - we'll see) to 5 years, if i'm not wrong. he didn't want to resign. he was forced to.
you know what's the greatest joke? rumours in that "catholic" party of his go that he may be candidate to Senate!!!!
why not? he would not be the last nor the only one with a likely sentence to be elected in our parliament.
imagine: - choose, sir: do u prefer jail or senate? - well...i don't know...for freedom, i'd say senate...but for company, i'd say jail - i would find more reliable people...
that would be a good piece of dialogue for a farce - wouldn't it?!
ps: by the way, he got thousands and thousands of votes - and he will probably. so don't pity italians. they're part of the wrong!

8. Berlusconi likes to play Knight |
|
with his sword and cape.
Makes him feel like a big shot.
The real Knights took a vow of poverty and service. They weren't always very nice people but at least they had a sense of honor.
These people are nothing but common gangsters.
