5. 13 million died as a result of Hitler's ever growing categorization of |
|
his version of Al Quaeda before he wasn't allowed to get away with it. And this country knew about it and didn't stop him.

20. Well, thirteen million in the camps. But 50 million overall- Includes Japanese & Italian related dea |
|
But historians put the entire figure of WWII deaths at fifty million.
The Brits who died from the Luftwaffe. The GI's, Brits, French etc who died across the battlefields of Europe. Civilians from all those countries in Europe. Polish civilian population devastated.
Poland and Holland and Belgium.
During the final days of the war, a friend of mine who lived in Holland said you would be walking down the street and the person next to you would just keel over dead from starvation.

6. So we could prove years later what hypocrites we are? |
|
We are perpetuating war crimes on a level Nazi Germany could only dream of...and Bush has basically told the UN to fuck off- that international law doesn't apply to us.
We all have our particular outrages, but that one sticks in my craw. We demanded Germany unconditionally surrender(and we and the USSR took full illegal advantage of that), and then had show trials, while claiming they weren't. Now, we refuse to follow the Geneva conventions and everything else that Nuremberg was supposed to stand for.
Doesn't that just put a cherry on top of everything else we've done?

God, I guess you are. Are you actually equating that stuff with 6 million people deliberately killed via orchestrated planned genocide? And not to mention the tens of millions of other people killed in WW2 because of the Nazis. You're saying everything the US has ever done is actually worse than all that? Seriously?

I am. For two reasons:
1. We've managed to keep secret how many people our "extracurricular activities" have killed. Right now, it's over 1 million people just in Iraq. We also sold nuclear tech to questionable people(See Sibel Edmonds). The deathtoll from our actions is very likely above 6 million, if you are so fascinated by that number...and we still smell like roses.
2. We're still doing it. If you were in Nazi Germany, would you have been one of those people that said "Well, it's not that bad...besides, he's eliminating our 'enemies.'" It wasn't 6 million in the beginning, nor the middle. We are still crushing people under our bootheels right now.
You're right to point out the losses on the battlefield. Our good friends from the USSR lost 20 million themselves. How many people have died because of our economic warfare? How many people died so that the free market wackos could prove that their ideas don't work? How many people have died for our colonialism?
If you somehow think we own some sort of moral high ground from any other fascist idiots, think again.

|
Thanks to people supporting him from here like Prescott Bush.
The most interesting theory I've heard so far is that Hitler was dying of Parkinsons anyway, and thus was not too concerned about what happened...much like GWB relying on the history books to be rewritten in his favor.
Face it, if it isn't the ethnic group of the person you're asking, they pretty much don't care what you do to them. Some will even help!

either in Germany or in conquered territories
we just "nuke 'em back to the stone age" (to quote Curtis LeMay).
It's harder to engender al Qaeda-style fear, when the bogeyman is your next door neighbor or high school geometry teacher or whatever.
Domestic or imported, a Nazi is a fucking Nazi.

Saying "Al-Qaeda" would not have explained the many thousands of eyewitness accounts like this:- There is nothing more terrifying than the feeling of helplessness towards horrible crimes which took place just in front of your eyes, and you cannot do anything. What could we, girls, do when we saw the people led to their death? Nothing. One day a special transport arrived at the camp. The people were not wearing regular cloths. Those were prisoners in striped pyjamas. They were so skinny and bonny, and collapsing from hunger and weakness. Their heads were shaved and you could not tell between men and women. A rumor was spread in the camp that those people, about 300 hundred, arrived from the death camp Majdanek, where the gas chambers ceased to operate. The Germans ordered them to lay down on the ground, and they simply collapsed. Frenzel, an S.S. man, came over and forged a chlorine solution on their heads, as if they were already corpses. The screaming and groaning that came out of their throats were like wounded animal’s howls. It seems that there are no limits to human cruelty.
There was another transport that shocked and agitated us. A rumor was spread out that a transport from Lvov arrived, but actually no one knew from where those Jews were. Those from the camp prisoners, who were ordered to empty the train cars, were weeping and sobbing when they told us the horrible scene revealed to them. What probably happened was that the train cars were packed and jammed with people, and while traveling they were killed by chlorine. Their bodies were green and their skin peeled to any touch…
One day, a transport from the death camp of Bełżec arrived to Sobibor. At first, we did not know where they were coming from, but a while later we heard fire salvoes, time and again, and we knew – these were not target shootings exercise. Sometime later we realized the truth: in the clothing pockets of the dead we found notes which were written in Yiddish and said: “They told us that we are going to a labor camp, but this is a lie. Avenge our death!” In a later time, when I joined the Partisans, and went through Poland and Germany and arrived at Czechoslovakia, I often thought about those notes, which were a source of inspiration and encouragement to me.
Before the breakout of the rebel, when, like the other girls, worked at the laundry place, I knew that something was “cooking” at the camp. Years later I was still admiring the resourcefulness and wisdom of the masterminds and planners of the rebel. Without a lot of shootings, the rebels killed many Germans and Ukraine soldiers. It is a pity that so few of us were left alive to tell about the rebel - and not because wrong planning, but beccause of the living conditions which prevailed then, in occupied Poland. http://www.zchor.org/testimonies/felenbaum.htmBush is a lying, arrogant, incompetent and dangerous piece of shit but nothing he has done even begins to approach the evil of the Holocaust. Anyone who claims otherwise needs to read up on the subject.

His whole propaganda apparatus (total control of newspapers, radio, and movies, the only media available to most people at the time) portrayed Jews as dangerous and degenerate and bent on destroying Germany.

17. They used the exact same word. "Terrorist" |
|
"Terrorist" and "bandit" were the two most common phrases applied to summarily executed people in the East. Noose-dangling corpses were frequently adorned with placards reading (in German & the local language) "I am a terrorist who shot at German soldiers...."

19. I was just thinking about this today |
|
While listening about the Omar Khadr kangaroo court which is making news here in Canada.
Total demonization of the perceived "enemy" is at the root of this problem.
The same rationalizations that Al-Qaeda is "evil" and that they deserve everything that's coming to them - is the SAME kind of rationalization that Hitler used against the Jews (that they're inhuman, they just want to kill us, thay have no human morality, "no respect for human life" , etc.).
The similarities are chilling.
