What about a new DU feature showing how many people Ignore you?
Sort of like "I recommend this poster", only the opposite.

1. It can only lead to trouble
as in..

I know person X is ignoring me, so I'm going to slam the ever living shit out of them, and chances are they won't even know it and won't defend themselves.

Bad idea.

4. My ignore list is a short one because
most of the people I ignore get tombstoned in short order.

My ego couldn't take knowing how many people ignore my twaddle. I'm sure it's a much longer list than mine.

and the admins decided that was not a feature DU felt was necessary for the 'community'.

11. Sorry, but
ignore is a problem in itself. Ignoring problems does not make them go away. There was alot of ignoring going on the last 8 years, some out of preservation of sanity, some out of "problem to big for me, why bother." Nope, no ignore here.

remember the experiment in "Super ignore", that didn't go too well.

Now I will be able to prove it, but every time I ask someone how to use this feature they fucking ignore me…

But iirc, it only lasted a day. Someone posted a thread and everyone could see who the poster had on ignore.

Does anyone else remember that?

27. So you remember that day?
The Duer had a high number of posts. When he/she realized readers could see their ignore list, it was corrected tout d'suite.

At that point I had no one on ignore and was afraid to put anyone on ignore for a while after that incident. lol

Psst... I'm no longer afraid.

36. This Has Been Asked and Answered Before
Knowing how unpopular you, or your favorites and unfavorites are, is a weapon for more dissension and insults.

I'd hate to see an abusable, one-click popularity/congeniality contest. Of course, if you really think someone is intolerable enough to ignore, the price you pay is not knowing what they say when they keep turning up after your posts.

Edited on Thu Feb-07-08 12:24 AM by sfexpat2000
It just makes people more negative.

The flip might have an impact though. (I like / appreciate / find this poster helpful or something.)

(We'd need a special category for sniffa. :) )

39. A "Most Ignored Hall of Fame" would be fun
As would "Fewest Posts to Tombstone", "Freepers We Have Known" and "Most Entertaining People (who don't take their meds)".

Seriously, the only person I've even considered ignoring since joining last March was tombstoned around post #43, many of which were directed at me, yet I never alerted. Thanks to whomever, but I was kind of having fun with the bad logic and the meandering arguments. I never learned to argue properly and it was a learning experience.
