2. Where did these so-called "super delegates" become part of the |
|
Democratic Party. I thought we got rid of all the "smoky back rooms" in 1972?

4. A super delegate has the same voting power of 10,000 voters |
|
or more. I've heard that number quoted at least 3 different times from 3 different radio hosts. I believe Thom Hartman was the first to explain it that way.

8. And the regular delegates have the same voting power of how many? |
|
And just who on earth selects these delegates - - if you guessed the party you are correct.
People vote for elected officials that become superdelegates. The party picks delegates out of a field of applicants.
The people do not select the regular delegates that will represent them.

5. Most super delegates are elected officials.... |
|
yes elected by the people. In their roles as elected officials they are representatives of the people.
This whole nonsense about the supers and not the people selecting the nominee is total bunk.

The only reasons super delegates was to overlord the democratic process.

and if they go to the convention committed, for the most part the commitment is only on the first vote. On the second vote, most are totally free to vote for any nominee they choose - - yes vote for any nominee they choose not voted by the populace.

13. I heard Hartman talking historically about them today... |
|
... I actually don't recall them, but maybe it's because it used to be all "closed door" and the reason they existed was to settle a stale mate. However, now, it seems they exist to use a 10,000 to 1 vote when they don't like the way their party's voting.
How fucked up is THAT? :wtf:

He had segments on his show both Wed and Thur. He vows to carry it all the way to the convention if necessary.
I'll be really pissed at the Democratic party if they decide this race for either Obama or Clinton. And if they are going to count Michigan or Florida then they need a new election or caucaus in each state and allow the candidates time to campaign there IMHO. It especially wasn't right that Clinton's name was still on the ballot in Michigan.
