Ten cents a post for posting on liberal message boards? |
|
So what I suspected all along is true. Thom Hartmann mentioned getting freeper-like disruptive posts on his show's message board, trashing anything being discussed from a leftist POV. His people traced one of the posters to another RW board who bragged about getting paid 10 cents a post to spread disruptive messages with RW talking points straight out of conservative talk shows like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly by some RW organizations. He didn't mention who paid them.
It seems to me that a lot of the Hillary bashing and Obama bashing posts might be from these posters. There is a certain difference between stating that you have concerns about some things about the candidates than out and out calling them names and accusing them of things that aren't even remotely true. Maybe we should be alert for these kind of posters and alert the mods when the BS gets too much.

6. We know companies like Netvocates |
|
pay people to spam consumer boards with product disinformation. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out they also have a political arm, spamming message boards with disruptive messages straight from the right wing. Or it could be a series of small companies out there, all taking RNC or Scaife money to do the same.
And yes, we need to alert when we see one of these posts. Disagreeing with a candidate's policy is one thing. Slamming their looks, speech patterns, use of words, business connections, religion, or anything else is suspect and should be alerted.
Let's keep it on point and on policy. Let's keep the spammers poor.

24. Wait a minute. Bush looks like a beady-eyed chimp, he sounds drunk when he speaks |
|
he can't pronounce words like "nuclear", he has business connections to theocratic totalitarian nutbags from Saudi Arabia, he has religious connections to theocratic totalitarian nutbags from the Republican Party...
let's see- I just slammed looks, speech patterns, use of words, business connections, and religion.
Can I get my 10 cents, now?

4. I think it's actually getting a lot better around here. |
|
I don't think we've been infiltrated. I think these are overly enthusiastic supporters of one candidate or another. They set up an inflammatory title, fill the post with vitriol, wait for their friends to come by and recommend it and then sit back and watch the fight (which both sides always seem to feel they have won, but nobody really does). But fewer and fewer people are engaging in these staged fights and they are starting to go away.
A lot of people have been alerting when someone is particularly outrageous and it seems to me that these people are gone or are behaving better.
The republicans don't need to pay anyone to disrupt our forums, we are perfectly willing to do that ourselves for free.

I work at the Free Republic, but gee that site is cheap When I get back to my right-wing muck pit, I'm much too tired to sleep I'm one of those fundy posters, a slinger of mud you know; One that the Freepers feature, at exactly a dime a throw.
Ten cents a post, that's what they pay me Gosh how they grind my axe. Ten cents a post, pansies and rough guys, tough guys rebut my "facts." Seven to midnight I read posts, loudly the lefties proclaim, Kossacks are tearing my ear-drums, DUers crush my claims. Sometimes I think, I've found my hero But it's a queer-o host; All that you need is a ticket, Come on big boy, ten cents a post.

ClownHall and FreepieHole have really vigilant hall monitors. I know of at least 4 people who went in to post and stir the pot, so to speak. All of them got shut down pretty fast.
Of course, they all are pretty good at getting the clowns to go crazy. Ninja posting, progressive style!

26. easiest way to counteract it |
|
would be to go into freeperlands - and put up a post that you signed up with the 10-cents-a-post place and it's really a liberal scam to collect names/Ip addresses of RWingers
and the site downloads tracking spyware with a virus that's linked to primary/election dates to steal votes
plus the names/IP addresses are being sent to liberal sites so they can specifically monitor your activities

I've noticed several posters who've been here for a month or less and have somehow managed to rack up hundreds, sometimes thousands, of posts. And they always seem to be stirring the pot.

14. Screw that, I'd charge at least a dollar per post |
|
Think about it. The people who have racked up a thousand posts in two weeks are usually called out on that. But that means they've made 100, minus taxes. So they'll end up with 60 dollars, for two weeks, 5 working days over two is 6 dollars a day, or less than a dollar per hour.
If that's how they want to earn their living, let them. They'll eventually starve to death.

18. that's gotta be below minimum wage |
|
If I posted like a madman I could do 200 posts in 3 hours. That's about a post a minute. Even cutting and pasting takes time. What are you gonna make at that rate $20 a day or something? That's not a huge financial incentive and if you just cut and past out of Rush, you would not last long on the average liberal board.
