Current Events, people leaving DU
Edited on Tue Feb-12-08 12:33 AM by bigbrother05
Would you want your child's school teacher, to be allowed to report on the personality of the child, with a grade on their report card. What is the criteria?, don't have any?. What is the grading system?, we don't know. What if you have a problem, with their parents, or the way they look, or act or talk, again what is your criteria.
The same applies here at DU, I am not calling anyone out, but how do you JUDGE, and I am not calling anyone a child. This is a real problem I had with the system.
I don't have anyone on ignore. If you disagree with the poster , if your going to fight, pick you're fight, have a legitimate argument
The Admins, have done a good job of limiting the number of posts, a little quirky today, but they are working hard.

1. Maybe it's the bottle of wine I've consumed, but that made NO sense to me...
...and I'm usually pretty cognizant even with alcohol added, so I don't think it's me...

Profile is "undeclared" and the handle seemed male (yes, I do get the Orwellian reference).

Alternately, you could take it as a compliment...in friendly terms "dude" is an expression of esteem regardless of gender....

35. I saw that!
I admit she has better lines than me - my toes don't curl, dammit. Although I do love a man who knows his your and you're, and to and too, and they're and their, and there - there is almost nothing in the world more attractive than that - for me, at least - mostly, sometimes. :donut: :loveya:

38. Well on certain days I can think more better, others not so much.
But I'm pretty sure my toes just curled - or, they're frozen, I'm not positive.

I'm liking Valentines week - I gave away my heart(s) and they came back to me. Now I'm awaiting the results from today, with my new kitten on my lap, and a kitchen full of puppies that are almost ready to find their forever homes, but right now, want nothing more than to play with me. Life doesn't get much better, I tell you.

I still haven't spoken to Barack about JE, but I WILL as soon as he calls. I hope he's not getting conceited because of all the adulation, because I knew him way back, when he was just a long shot deciding to jump into the fray.

Ahh - puppies and kittens - that's what really makes the world go 'round!

11. I totally agree that you should do that...
It's not like they just up and went all passenger 57 on you or anything. The other day I though I had all the answers too but I just began crying and crying and then it was all okay... I know you understand... I do, I know it.

Don't let them throw salt in your game. That's really all I wanted to say.

Rock on!

great place to find info in links, and rational discussions..

it will get better again, but it is hard sometimes to find a rational thread.. the spammers turn the page so fast everything is lost

18. The internet is an informational warfare battleground.
Political websites are major theaters.

I've been saying that since I became a member here in 2001, today more people realize what this really means.

One of the most helpful articles I've read about information warfare was published in the US Army War College's Quarterly Parameters in 1998.

Here is a link to that article for those members that might want to understand this a bit more.

"The Mind Has No Firewall" by Timothy L. Thomas (Parameters Spring 1998)

It was Psychological Behavior, this was a program that they were trying to introduce in my child's school.

about letting yourself be trolled instead of putting the trolls on ignore? Why are we always exhorted to pay attention to people who just come here to fuck with us?

34. how do people on du judge other peoples personalities?
is that what youre asking ? if so, give an example.
i tend to believe its hard to make a conclusion about someones personality over a computer. personality is more than just what you say, its how you say it. i think people on DU tend to judge peoples morality and intelligence. there are some tho that try to go for low blows, but that only speaks to their own personality and character , as well as their intelligence level since they hadta resort to such tactics when their argument was failing.

as far as the teacher, i dont know how you can judge or rate someones personality. behavior, sure. you can rate that all day. sure you dont mean they are rating kids behavior? not their personality ?
