Just when you thought the Freepers couldn't get any more delusional. . . |
|
In this thread, they discuss Obama's speech without a teleprompter and how that makes him an 'empty suit' an 'emperor with no clothes' etc. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1969220/postsThis coming from people who supported W for the last 8 years, a man who can barely speak the damn language?!

1. The idea of having a mind of one's own is completely foreign to them |
|
Hell, the idea of having a mind...even an idea.

2. Some of the anti-Obama comments on that site |
|
sound like the one's posted here.
Maybe there are some on the left who are united with some on the right in their dislike of Obama.

5. And this attitude is precisely why I've been finding other things |
|
to do on-line rather than read DU these days. When Edwards bowed out I decided I don't really give a damn who wins. Six of one, half dozen of the other. I don't believe in either of the remaining candidates, but they're still better than repugs. Hopefully.

I am simply amazed at what a circular firing squad this place has turned into.
Gone are the thoughful, insightful essays and humor that drew me to this site in the first place.
So I went away for a couple of weeks, came back, and it was even worse.
And I have no dog in the hunt, either.
Your candidate was my candidate.
I suppose his house must've been too goddamned big.
Or something. Tom

11. The Primary Wars have jumped the shark. |
|
I just don't care anymore. There is nothing the supporters of either candidate can do to make me feel any different. I have nothing invested at this point.

This whole loopy Primary Season has left me scratching my head.
I feel as though the rhythm (or lack thereof) has marginalized, almost trivialized, the candidates.
And I believe the whole madness of it is by design.
The GOP has their man and now they are eagerly awaiting hyena-like, the early exposure of a Dem target on which to focus the machine.
And the Dems are eating themselves alive.

4. this is why Obama would sweep in the GE |

Edited on Tue Feb-12-08 05:02 PM by fenriswolf
even people on the free republic are defending him
* ""It was thus interesting to see Obama climb to the stage at Virginia's Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on Saturday night. As he strode to the podium, Obama clutched in his hands a pile of 3 by 5 index cards" OMG! the Horror! he used Index cards??????? must... now... elect.. hilLIARy..."
* "I watched the speech and I believe he gave it in a very powerful style. The writer of this article is very wrong."
* Unlike the great orator, George W Bush, ha.
* When Obama is unplugged, you get a peek under the curtian at what he’s really thinking.....
* This is an interesting article. I saw part of that speech, the part where he got nasty about Cheney and Rove. It was completely unnecessary and I though struck a false note. In fact, it was I now think, a more true note than what we usually hear.
* “I watched the speech and I believe he gave it in a very powerful style. The writer of this article is very wrong.” I agree.
* Index cards would list names of VIPs attending, the name of the arena, the City and State, maybe some issue of importance locally. These are the things that change from speech to speech, which needs to be covered somehow when giving ten or a dozen speeches a day in several cities or states.

7. Yes, there were those who were saying the article was bunk |
|
but the vast majority, most of whom probably didn't even see the speech, were just piling on with the dumbest comments, especially considering who they have supported for the last eight years.

But there were members of the FREE REPUBLIC who were not buying into the bullshit and defending Obama. Some of them will vote for him but if they voiced it on their board they would be tombstoned.

8. Interesting responses. |

They'll soon be banned from FR, of course...this is not accepted groupthink. But it is encouraging that some will not let stupid posts and observations stand without comment. I do think that Barrack will bring a huge independent voter and even some Republicans who know that this country needs some seriouschange.
