I think I finally clued into why Congress is so interested in Steriod use in baseball.... |
|
Just heard on Lou Dobbs that Clemons is a personal friend of the Bush family.... duh... So no wonder the Republicans were pushing his innocence so hard today.... Who would have thunk it?

6. I think rather that the steroid issue is a handy distraction |
|
from more important matters.
Like, say,
Iraq
torture
the economy
taxes
the budget
the Administration's contempt for the Constitution and Congress alike
but who needs to deal with such thorny issues when they can distract themselves and the public alike with investigation of steroids in baseball?

7. For the life of me (and I know others as well on DU) I could not figure out... |
|
why such interest in Steroids by Congress when there were so many other pressing issues to discuss.... Shit, this really blows me away as to why a Democratically controlled Congress would let this come up....

8. That's actually incorrect, Dems were on both sides..... |
|
Particularly Holmes from DC. Personally I thought the whole hearing was a complete joke and I ended up feeling bad for Clemens because he tried to cooperate. He didn't need to even go to that hearing. Waste of time in my opinion.

11. Geographic proximity. |
|
Clemens lives in West Houston, in the Memorial area south of I-10 where lots of rich people live.
My daughter went to (public) high school with Clemens' son, who got TWO HUMMERS (the kind with wheels) when he turned 16 and got his driver's license.
Sophomores were prohibited from parking in the student lots, so Mrs. Clemens gave the school a few thousand dollars as a generous gift, and lo and behold, the son was able to park in the junior and senior designated lots.
Money talks.
As Fred Nietzsche said, "What are laws to Sons of God?".
