When the whole mess began to make the news, it looked like he was a fall guy, taking the heat for his leader. Most people believed he was never going to involve the president, even if it meant a jail term for himself which, of course, turned out to be a 3 year suspended term.

Mainly because no one was smart enough to look beyond the uniform! And those that knew him were more loyal to Reagan then they were to this country, and probably still are!
What was it that a Roman said about treason from within?
