Now that's ironic
Irony has its place.
Think of all the war hawks in the Republican Party who were hot to invade Iraq but never spent a minute under fire. There were those who actively avoided military service when their country called. They had every excuse known to man to avoid service; yet today, they still want others to face the bombs and hot lead associated with combat.
They violate the law and try to pass legislation that absolves them of the crimes they’ve committed against the people and Constitution of the United States.
Think of a political party that calls itself home to people like Jeff Gannon, Mary Cheney, Mark Foley, Larry Craig, Ken Mehlman, Mitch McConnell, Karl Rove, Patrick McHenry, Ted Haggard, Andrew Sullivan, J.D. Hayworth, Matt Drudge, David Dreier, Orrin Hatch and so on. Then look at who their candidate is for President, and what he has as his campaign theme, “The Straight Talk Express.” In fact those words are emblazoned on the side of his tour bus. Now that’s really ironic.
