Boston Rocker Tells Huckabee to layoff

"Boston has never endorsed a political candidate, and with all due respect would not start by endorsing a candidate who is the polar oppositte of most everything that Boston stands for"

1. A little more info would help here....
from the article:

The chief songwriter and founder of the band Boston has more than a feeling that he's being ripped off by Mike Huckabee. In a letter to the Republican presidential hopeful, Tom Scholz complains that Huckabee is using his 1970s smash hit song "More Than a Feeling" without his permission.

A former member of the band, Barry Goudreau, has appeared with Huckabee at campaign events, and they have played the song with Huckabee's band, Capitol Offense.

Scholz, who said Goudreau left the band more than 25 years ago after a three-year stint, objects to the implication that the band and one of its members has endorsed Huckabee's candidacy.

+++++++++++++++++++

Personally speaking, I've always despised the homogenized sound of the band Boston (and the rest of "classic rock"). To me it all sounds like it was written to be eventually used by campaigns for politicians and promotions for beer and car companies... horrible heartless melodies.

But that's just me: I just change the channel.

Tut-tut

6. Sholz sound *was*innovative at the time
Edited on Sat Feb-16-08 09:46 AM by Teaser
He created his sound by building his own equipment, amplifiers, pedals. Given his background at MIT, this was not surprising.

It hasn't aged well, but at the time it was considered cool.

2. Ha-ha!
So many God-fearing, patriotic, "freedom isn't free" country and Christian musicians out there, and the Republican candidates still want to use music written by liberals. Hmmm...wonder why?

9. For the same twisted mentality that republicans lawmakers name bills with liberal titles
Consciously or unconsciously they know they are lying, cheating, and stealing in their words, actions, and deeds. And on some level they know what's right, good, and correct. But being the weasels that they are, they *use* it rather than live it.

They should really be playing the Beatles over and over wherever they go:

All thru' the day I me mine, I me mine, I me mine.
All thru' the night I me mine, I me mine, I me mine.
Now they're frightened of leaving it
Ev'ryone's weaving it,
Coming on strong all the time,
All thru' the day I me mine.

I-me-me mine, I-me-me mine,
I-me-me mine, I-me-me mine.

All I can hear I me mine, I me mine, I me mine.
Even those tears I me mine, I me mine, I me mine.
No-one's frightened of playing it
Ev'ryone's saying it,
Flowing more freely than wine,
All thru' the day I me mine.

I-me-me mine, I-me-me mine,
I-me-me mine, I-me-me mine.

All I can hear I me mine, I me mine, I me mine.
Even those tears I me mine, I me mine, I me mine.
No-one's frightened of playing it
Ev'ryone's saying it,
Flowing more freely than wine,
All thru' your life I me mine.

3. Figures...Huckabee won Kansas, too...
So what's Huckabee's theme song? "Carry on, my wayward son"...probably not...or "point of no return"...about that delegate count, Mr. Mike...

5. Actually Huckabee's entitled to use it
at public events, so long as he pays the proper ASCAP royalties.

7. Every repub will have to use "Cat Scratch Fever" as their theme song
either that or some old Pat Boone knockoffs from the 50's.

8. Well said, Mr. Scholz...
He recommends that Huckabee "stick to music recorded by far-right Republicans."

10. Over 20 years ago Reagan's handlers were
playing Born in the USA at his '84 campaign stops. The dumbshits didn't even bother to listen to the lyrics.

I think the Beatles' "Nowhere Man" would be a fitting campaign song for the Huckster, McCain, and their batshit crazy supporters.
