NRA president to Philadelphia: Gun control laws are not the solution By Andrew Maykuth
INQUIRER STAFF WRITER
Message from the National Rifle Association to Philadelphia: We're armed. No harm. Get used to it. The day after crime victims marched in Philadelphia to demand stronger gun-control laws, the president of the NRA spoke to law students in Wilmington tonight and denounced efforts to combat crime by restricting gun ownership.
"Philadelphia doesn't need any new anti-gun laws to combat the lawless," said John C. Sigler, a Delaware lawyer who was appointed president of the firearm-advocacy organization this year. "They simply need to enforce the laws they already have."
Speaking to students at the Widener University School of Law, Sigler, a former Dover police captain and Navy submarine veteran, delivered a hard-line argument: He said gun-control laws don't work and are not the solution to violent crime.
"We're armed. No harm, get used to it?" Now they're against gun control and showing their true colors. When the president of the NRA starts lecturing to law students, you know we're in big trouble. I guess the NRA thinks it's a country onto itself now. They certainly pay enough in bribes to politicians to prop up the economy of a small country.

that control laws aren't working. Just like drug control laws. People will always find a way to harm another and have since the dawn of time.

and bought mine legally. Obviously one still can buy one on the street illegally and bypass a background check. Just like one can buy drugs. So the responsible people follow the laws while those who don't care about the laws buy on the black market. I can't see where the laws are making any difference for this reason.

6. Yeah, and having guns so freely available has been such a success. |
|
And if we want to be safe from WMDs, we should get rid of controls on them, too.
