Did anyone else see the News Hour with Jim Lehrer tonight? This expert from MIT said the hydro whatever gases would be released anyways before the thing enters the atmosphere. I'm clearly no scientist but the whole thing seems fishy. He seemed to be saying it was some sort of anti-satellite posturing with Russia and China.

Of course this is a live-fire test of missile defense, there is no other logical explanation. Dubya wants SOMETHING to show for his dynasty.
Natch, given Dubya's luck, I expect this to fail spectacularly.
