CBS 60 Minutes Siegelman Story to Air on Sunday
CBS 60 Minutes Siegelman Story to Air on Sunday
DEPARTMENT No Comment
BY Scott Horton
PUBLISHED February 20, 2008

I am advised by CBS News that their long-awaited feature dealing with the trial of former Alabama Governor Don E. Siegelman will air on the next 60 Minutes program, on Sunday, February 24. I am told by people who have seen it that this is one of the best pieces of domestic exposé journalism the 60 Minutes team has put together in the last several years. Mark your calendar and if you’re out, this is the time to master the Tivo or the VCR record function.

1. I can't wait to watch it.
I just hope they keep that creepy Katie Couric out of it. If she does an interview, I'm turning it off.

2. About damn time!
Scott Horton has done excellent work on this story. It's sickening when you read about the U.S. Attorney, Karl Rove, the judge in the case and the major state newspapers. The collusion is breathtaking and yet this hasn't been a national story!
Thanks for posting this!

4. I hope everybody watches

What happened to former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman has been done before in
history .... Joe Stalin had his gulags. Siegelman thought he won re-election in 2002 but
that something happened to the vote (A study by a Professor @ Auburn showed he was right)
and he said so. After that Karl Rove, Alberto Gonzales, the A.G. of Alabama, and two
U.S. Attorneys got busy and put Don into prison.

bush/ Cheney 101

use the NSA to spy on people
use the Dept. of Justice as "muscle" w/ U.S. Attorneys as the "button men."

5. That's good news. Rove's world is going to crumble -- further.

10. I so hope you're right! Seems like Rove is wrapped in litigation proof
teflon.

6. That is excellent news. (And a long time coming)
I sincerely hope that light shed on this glaring example of selective justice, and Rove's outrageous interference will get some REAL justice!!

7. Word is there is also a new angle to the story, a WH/Rove link and DoJ in DC.
I expect this report will turn the tide on their ploy, and they
will be on the defensive, facing both a legal bar and the press.

Thanks to everyone here who has kept this story floating too!

8. What a birthday this will be for Mr. Siegelman. I plan on
watching this. I sent him a card earlier this week. It is time to reunite this man with his family.

9. Will the 60 Minutes piece cover the "stolen election" aspects of this story?
