2. Well, about a month ago Nader gave his price--$10 million. |
|
He must've got it, cause here we are.

that is fact.
And maybe some individual Republicans sent in donations, but so did Dems and indies. To act like the RNC wrote him a check isn't intellectually honest.
I'm not backing him this time, but let's be truthful here.

9. No, it wasn't the RNC that funded him. |
|
But, I wonder, who will support and vote for him this time 'round?
Do you think he'll siphon many anti-war/anti-corporate Dems? Indys?
It looks like he won't be on more than 20-30 state ballots. The Green Party pretty much have their nominee, he's gonna have to run as an Indy. What damage do you think he'll do this year? I think not to much to worry about.

14. I was a Nader-hater, but I may vote for him this time. |
|
It was an insult for Nader to contest Gore for the nomination. I hated him for it. He was too far out of the mainstream in 2000. But these days, that's GOOD!
There's something about him that excites me now.
He's not part of the OLD politics, the OLD Washington, the OLD faces we have seen for years. Nader can bring us real CHANGE -- a truly NEW way of doing things.
If Barrack represents new social priorities and a wiser foreign policy, how much more so does Nader? Why, there's no comparison! And Nader has no spousal baggage or embarrassing Senate votes to live down.
Maybe Nader is the change we are so desperate for?
Nader is the new Obama!!

JE. He was marginalized by the press, and then persuaded to suspend his campaign "for the good of the party".
Doesn't change the fact that Ralphie is a divisive, narcissistic, egotistical, oxygen-wasting, Republican shill douchebag.

7. I think he simply believes that running is a powerful way of speaking. |
|
And I'd say his argument is valid. If you let a party take your vote for granted, they will ignore your concerns. Say what you like about Nader, but I do think this type of third party candidate can help steer the discussion away from the right, and force candidates to actually win the votes of their supposed base.

Nader is free to do as he pleases - the people who vote for him wouldn't vote D anyway - they would stay home, vote for some other 3rd party, or vote for their dog. It's a protest vote because they don't like the D and R candidates so it has no impact on the Dem candidate - they would not get more votes without Nader. Running allows him to get his agenda out there, and he makes some good points.
Hillary is doing more damage to the Dems chances in the GE than Nader will.

15. Last time NADER paid R's to get signatures for him. |
|
Nader has to get a lot of petition signatures in the all the states for ballot access. In '04, (and maybe in '00 too) rather than cultivating a real organization and finding volunteers, he paid people without screening them to canvass for signatures. Of course a number of R's stepped up, not because they really wanted Nader, but only because they thought it would hurt the Dems. Absolutely incontrovertable.
