I have gotten a Zogby Poll with some of the oddest questions I have ever seen in my life. Here's a sample:
It would be best for everyone if the proper authorities censored magazines and movies to keep trashy material away from youth. A lot of rules regarding modesty and sexual behavior are just customs that are not necessarily any better or holier than those which other people follow. It is important to protect fully the rights of radicals and deviants. The sooner we get rid of the traditional family structure, where the father is the head of the family and the children are taught to obey authority automatically, the better. The old-fashioned way has a lot wrong with it. The facts on crimes, sexual immorality, and the recent public disorders all show we have to crack down harder on deviant groups and troublemakers if we are going to save our moral standards and preserve law and order. The self-righteous "forces of law and order" threaten freedom in our country a lot more than most of the groups they claim are "radical" and "godless." Obedience and respect for authority are the most important virtues children should learn. The courts are right in being easy on drug users. Punishment would not do any good in cases like these. There is nothing wrong with premarital sexual intercourse. The biggest threat to our freedom comes from the Communists and their kind, who are out to destroy religion, ridicule patriotism, corrupt the youth, and in general undermine our whole way of life. It is best to treat dissenters with leniency and an open mind, since new ideas are the lifeblood of progressive change. It is wonderful that young people today have greater freedom to protect against things they don't like and to "do their own thing." Once our government leaders and the authorities condemn the dangerous elements in our society, it will be the duty of every patriotic citizen to help stomp out the rot that is poisoning our country from within. The way things are going in this country, it's going to take a lot of "strong medicine" to straighten out the troublemakers, criminals, and perverts. Atheists and others who have rebelled against the established religions are no doubt every bit as good and virtuous as those who attend church regularly.
They have choices as answers ranging from "Strongly disagree to strongly agree" and everything in betwen. This is the second set of very weird questions. The previous ones said things like "It would be better if certain groups stayed in their place (paraphrasing)". Same choice of answers. WTF is up with this?

1. I think they are testing for authoritarianism. |
|
But the questions are indeed rather weird.

Did you send it back and tell them to contact you when they have real questions?

3. I saw a thread this morning |

My first reaction was that it was a very biased survey. However I think that most of people who lean towards towards the right will love the questions and answer them with zeal. their answers will be less calculated or guarded.
The only thing that it will prove is that they will strongly agree to any question that shows hate and intolerance.
