3. I have never understood sports fans and their loyalties.
sports are games. It's great to root for a team, but it's just a game.

It's weird to wrap your identity with a team... so much that a politician, wearing a rivals cap, offends someone.

whatever.

7. Anything to do with the Yankees is not just a game.
It is the everlasting conflict of good versus evil.

12. well, yes...
no smilies, no tags and

"But even I, as a Mets fan, am offended."

as the body of the posting. I know you support Hillary, but why say you are offended... unless you were joking, in which case a :sarcasm: tag or similar would have been in order.

I know the Yankees / Mets thing is real serious with some folks. I remember Ghooliani having problem with some republican fans of both the Mets and the Red Sox.

I just figured is was a character flaw that you have chosen to overlook for now, but it still really eats at you that she is a Yankees fan.

14. Nahhhh
I don't take Sports seriously at all.

I do like the Mets --but not so much that I care.

In fact it wouldn't really bother me if she liked the Red Sox either.

15. Watching baseball is like watching paint dry
and I even know how the game is played and like baseball. Forget about the other team sports except soccer. I just can't watch them at all.

As for team loyalty, how many players on any given pro team actually came from that area? Most are recruited all over the country. Why are fans so loyal to a bunch of guys from out of town?

Honestly, I wish we could generate this amount of passion over government policy. Hell, we don't even have this kind of rooting for our military, and you'd think they'd be first in the macho heart.

To be fair to the Cubbies fans, she does look like the cap isn't a particularly good fit, physically or emotionally.

19. It's like Manchester vs Liverpool
The sports teams are extensions of the communities they represent, and thus a part of the fan's identity- Ideally, you want to vote for your home team-Of course it's tricky with Chicago- do you go for the Cubs or the White sox?
I do agree some people get carried away though....Walk through Liverpool with a 'Manchester United' shirt on and you'll wake up in the morgue....People who use violence against fans of the opposing teams are assholes and psychos- I'm in Boston, I love the Red Sox- i hate the Yankees- but I love New Yorkers, and think NYC is an awesome place...
Ive met quite a few Sox fans acting like jerks to New Yorkers who visit Fenway Park....Not all Bostonians are that way...

Sure they can - in the privacy of their own home with the curtains drawn.

Gotta stay safe.
