"Even should McCain win the general election, which I consider to be very doubtful, he would nevertheless govern from the center-left and appoint Justices to the Supreme Court such as his bosom friend, Joe Lieberman. Therefore the great conservative legacy embodied by men such as Barry Goldwater, Newt Gingrich, and Ronald Reagan would be thrown into 'the trash bin of history.'"

We should be so lucky.

5. I've spent a bit of time over there
and believe it or not, McCainiac is not right wing enough for them. Yes, he wants a hundred years of war in the ME, but he's compromised enough with Democratic Senators like Kennedy and Feingold a lot of the time, so he's not "pure" enough.

But I guess some of us would feel the same way if our frontrunner/putative nominee had co-sponsored bills with the most wingnut of the Repukes.

2. If you really want to see thier heads explode...
and have them vote for McCain, so maybe you shouldn't mention this...

"President Barrack Obama will nominate Senator Hillary Clinton to the Supreme Court!"

4. If you're Tancredo right
Lieberman is center left. I wish some people on the left would understand that the political spectrum doesn't end at Lieberman or McCain, it keeps going waaaaaay far off to the right.

6. I have a very conservative friend who bleeds Republican and he is pissed.
He believes there will be 2 Democrats running and he will NOT vote for McCain. I am betting he is not alone in that thinking, but then again we have Democrats who will claim our candidates are not liberal enough and no better than a Republican. I am a little surprised because usually Republicans are more pragmatic about electing their nominee. It seems like it is usually the Democrats who pout when their candidate does not get the nomination.

7. That's because McCain has sewn up the nomination...
That's because McCain has sewn up the nomination. The supporters of the losing candidates are bitter. Expect the same type of anti-dem nominee tirades and declarations from the supporters of the losing Democratic contender for at least a month or so after either Obama or Clinton sews it up. By November, the masses of both parties will be behind their nominee as the "lesser of two evils".

The only real factor here, IMO, is that McCain may not have the Right Wing Fundie Nutjobs in his camp this year as Bush had in 2004. (Expect Gay marriage to become a big issue again, or something similiar, by Republican strategists eager to get the Fundie Nutrider vote out).

9. My friend did not have a favorite Republican candidate.
For him, there were not a lot of viable choices. He said many months ago that he would not vote for McCain and I hope to reinforce that notion until election time.
