http://www.tagesschau.de/ausland/islamumfrage2.htmlIn 2001 Gallup started a poll to find out, what muslims think. They interviewed 50.000 out of the world population of 1 billion.
The results:
- 7% think, the attacks of 9/11 were justified
- 93% think, the attacks were contrary to their religion: "If you kill an innocent, it is as if you killed all mankind."
- interviewed radical muslims never mentioned religious arguments to support terror. Instead they said, america deserves this for it's imperialism.
- radical muslims are as religious as the average muslim, but more well-educated and generally richer than average. They would support democracy, but don't believe in it.
- moderate muslims are mostly concerned about personal and economical security.
- radical muslims are mostly concerned about political/military interference in their home-country by the USA.
- "What do you most like about the west?" The top-answers: technology, freedom, democracy
- 84% of moderate muslims and 88% of radical muslims think, the west doesn't respect their culture and religion
- "What should the west do?" top-answer: "Stop looking down on the muslims."
This Gallup-poll is titled "Who speaks for Islam - What a billion muslims really think". It will be published as a book in march.
