Poll question: What Do You See As The Real Inflation Rate?
The Government's reporting on inflation is absurdly low. Those of us living in the real world know better. Eggs over two bucks a dozen, four dollar milk, $50 tanks of gas, and lowly salt has doubled in price in the last year.

What do you think the real inflation rate is, the increase in cost in the last year?

1. Don't forget the war that was to pay for itself. Now estimated at $3 trillion.
The last lie of that magnitude was in the 1950s when they said electricity generated by nuclear power plants would be too cheap to meter.

2. You know, I actually remember that. It was Popular Science magazine I believe
Which, at the time, was a reputable source of household information. Common and as informative as Reader's Digest.

line that machines would be taking up so much of the work that everyone would only work 20 hours a week at what would be a living wage? The pundits back then were even worried about what people would find to do with all the leisure time they'd have.

For the youngsters here, who are no doubt rolling around screaming with laughter, this was way back when EVERYONE, even the talking heads, assumed that increased productivity and education would actually benefit the ordinary person's life. And look what happened. We wuz robbed.

5. The CPI excludes food and energy for a reason - they've been soaring for YEARS.
Even before ths present economic downturn, most people I know have been struggling with high gas and food prices and stagnant wages for at least 5 or 6 years.
