"Are apologies to Bush in order?" - Today's INSANE LTTE
http://snipurl.com/20umz

The local rag has more than its fair share of wingnuts, but this guy is really out there. The best part is when he tries to draw a comparison between Bush and Lincoln. Some highlights:

"Africans turned out in record numbers to thank President Bush for all he has done for Africa in the battle against AIDS. Bob Geldorf, an Irish rock star and AIDS activist, praised Mr. Bush for his work in delivering billions to fight disease and poverty in Africa, and blasted the U.S. press for ignoring the achievement. Mr. Bush, said Mr. Geldof, “has done more than any other president so far.”"

"Bush lowered taxes for all Americans ... the left said that deficits would rise and revenue to the government would fall. Well, that didn’t happen when John Kennedy lowered taxes, or when Reagan lowered taxes and it sure didn’t happen when Bush lowered taxes. Instead of the dire predictions of the left we have record revenues to the federal treasury. That is not right-wing spin, it’s indisputable fact. Bush was right again."

"Finally we have the Iraq war. A few months ago John Murtha, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and every Democrat left of Joe Lieberman were claiming the war was lost. Now after a change in strategy, a new general and al-Qaida has all but been destroyed in Baghdad. Recent letters found from al-Qaida operatives talk about the total chaos in their ranks and defections to the Americans. Instead of defeat in Iraq, George Bush’s leadership in the face of constant criticism will bring us and the Iraqi people a proud victory snatched from the jaws of liberal defeatists."

"It’s interesting to note there was another Republican president who fought an unpopular war. His own party came to him during the unpopular war to ask him to step down. His response to those who would have him quit? “I will see this war to its conclusion, then it will have consumed me ... then you can have your better man.” That unpopular and stubborn president was Abraham Lincoln."

1. it's a good example of the reality-based paradox
see, this guy is so far removed from reality, that what he is saying is impossible to reconcile with reality at all, which makes rational conversation pretty much impossible as well.

2. No, he's just inside "Bush's reality" - Bush compares himself to Lincoln
And apparently Tony Snow makes similar comments (I refuse to watch the video!)--

7. that's what I'm saying... remember when a Bush aid said something to the effect that:
'we create our version of reality for others to interpret'.

This is the core of what has changed over the past few years. The entire GOP and their noise machine are now marching forth with their own version of reality that they describe as fact, even though facts have nothing to do with it, only spin, but since the MSM parrots these 'facts' then they are suddenly entered into the national dialog, which pollutes the dialog with false facts, hence making rational debate impossible.

3. Dear Commander AWOL Bush, I apologize for thinking that after you stole the 2000 election

...you would be just an average corrupt republicon crony incompetent. But you -- and your cabal of deviant republicon cronies -- have far exceeded my expectations. You are the perfect occult incarnation of the Evil Doing that you like to project onto others, by way of avoiding responsibility for the darkness of your own humungous SHADOW.

With sincere apologies for misunderestimating you, Spiral Hawk

4. This guy is living in never-never land.
He ignores the depression era savings rate and gap between the rich and poor. He ignores the falling stock market and sub-prime crisis. He ignores the falling dollar and skyrocketing energy and food costs. He ignores the millions who can't afford health care or college tuition. But the bush lowered taxes and that's the only thing that seems to register on his pea-sized brain.

He ignores the thousands of dead American soldiers. He ignores the hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis. He ignores the ever expanding cost of the war. He ignores the length of time it has taken just to get to a point where the previously non existent Al Qaida in Iraq is suffering some disorganization. The bush is seeing some minor victory in the occupation and that is the only thing that registers.

Then he compares the bush to Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was fighting to keep the United States together. The bush is fighting to keep it apart. The growing gulf between the reality-based US community and authoritarian-based US community will continue to expand and separate us all.

Those who live in never-never land and those who live in reality are forever separated.

6. His take on taxes is a real joke
Though the top marginal rate was lowered slightly under Kennedy, it effectively raised taxes on the wealthy by closing the many loopholes they used to cheat.

Reagan did lower taxes (again, mostly for the rich) and single handidly changed the country from the world's greatest creditor nation to the world's largest debtor nation and, except for Clinton's term, it's been getting worse ever since.

Today, thanks to the payroll tax, the working class pays far more while the rich pay almost nothing at all.

Haha- Jesus Christ, this man is either the world's dumbest liar, or delusional.

If you're going to make an absurd, reality-denying statement, make it about something nebulous-- not simple arithmetic.

"Instead of the dire predictions of the left we have record revenues to the federal treasury. That is not right-wing spin, it’s indisputable fact. Bush was right again."

"One plus one equals 8. This is indisputable fact!".

double the debt in they go beyond 2010.
