14. The one thing I will say about the troops, in their defense

They were placed into a war with no end. This isn't like Vietnam where many men simply hoped to survive one year and go back home. This is their LIFE. Many have been back 2 and 3 times in 5 years for long stretches. Many of them have no life outside the military. They spend more time in warzones than they do at home.

Most men, when put in prolonged combat roles, go nuts.

Also, keep in mind, the atrocities will be limited in scope in terms of % of troops doing good, vs the bad apples. Be careful of blanket statements.
