How did Ohio get to be such a corrupt state? |
|
It seems that every election is gamed somehow or another.

1. I grew up in Youngstown, OH |
|
I could tell you stories you would NEVER believe, but all true. The industrial cities were totally corrupt, and they still are, with different groups suplanting the mob.

2. It is rather stunning. |

Florida is right up there too, as are Lousianna. Consider the crap that was pulled in Texas with the massive gerrymandering of the congressional districts, including the misuse of DHS thugs.

And in that district just north of Cincinnati you've got John Boehner and in Cincy going east there's Mean Jean Schmidt.

6. Short answer: Republicans |
|
They can't possibly win an election based on popular votes. They HAVE to game the system in order to hold on to power.

7. It is better. These are normal glitches. |

We are trying to fix years of incompetence under Blackwell. Our new SOS is doing a great job. The weather has a lot to do with today's problems. Some precincts were short on ballots. They should have planned better - but it isn't b/c of corruption.

The Dems are doing their best to clean things up after decades of Reep Rule, but it'll take a long while.
Because of our new Dem SOS, I was able to vote a paper ballot today. Life is better.

11. Ohio has been as corrupt as anywhere... |
|
It's complicated, but it evolved from immigrants, manufacturing, gov't, and the mob. Actually, it was 'mobs,' there were Italian, Irish and Jewish mobs fighting each other for control of the money. Their legacy lives on, in the form of political mobs... The poster child for this might be Jim Traficant, but he's only one of a dozen from the area that have done time... It's an amazing story, but Youngstown, Cleveland and elsewhere are as corrupt as any place on Earth.
