Simply disgusting.

A mother shown in a video punishing a girl at an east Orange County car wash with a pressure washer has come forward, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said this afternoon.

4. I guess I wouldn't mind if that mother...
...was waterboarded.

I could look the other way, with no problem.

That little girl was probably 2 or 3.

A disturbing element of this, is that usually parents have some time to calm
down--when they're in the car and when they've had time to think and get themselves
centered. This woman drove to a car wash, with the expressed purpose of doing this
to her child?

What a monster.

6. What's the backstory here? Am I missing something?
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 05:23 PM by Xithras
All I see in that video is some lady hosing her kid off (those washers do shoot straight water for rinsing). I've hosed my own kids down a time or two when they've slipped in horse poo or got so muddy I didn't want them in the house. I even recall hosing my two year old down once after a particularly bad poo in his undies (we were outside at the time).

Is there more to this story? I don't see them spanking the kid or anything, just hosing him/her down and then changing the kids clothes.

The PSI on those washers are something fierce. This was pure torture.

Why don't you take a ride with a friend to a car wash and let him or her spray you in the face with one... then come back and tell us how it felt.

12. The PSI for the do-it-yourselfs are not that high.
It's a liability thing. If the PSI were too high, people would hurt themselves and sue the carwash owners. The hand-washes like that typically aren't any more powerful than a gardenhose with a decent jet nozzle. I've BEEN shot with one of those, screwing around with my friends while washing my car. People do it all the time.

Is it comfortable? Not really. But abuse? Since when does hosing a kid down constitute abuse?

19. Are you out of your fucking mind?
The average car wash has 1000 PSI's. That's enough to rip the love bugs that cling to your grill and pretty much any other solid piece of muck that is attached to your car. Again---- go to a car wash with a buddy and have them spray you down like the little girl in this video. You'll cry like a baby.

hosing down.... I swear ------some people.

15. Most parents faced with a dirty child would hose them down with
a garden hose, not the hose at a car wash.

16. This isn't a fucking garden hose.
Did you see the kid slam into the wall? Those pressure hoses are powerful, because they're to wash down MACHINERY.

That video made me ill.

23. You've washed your kids off with a car wash pressure hose?
You do realize that those car wash hoses spray about 10 times the pressure of your garden hose right?

and this was how her mother punished her. Sick people shouldn't have children...

:sarcasm:

Some people really shouldn't have kids. This woman needs a logical consequence course, stat.

18. Ah! Thank you! There is a backstory and I was wrong.
After learning that (and looking up the full article that confirmed it), I back off my earlier claim. High pressure or not, no sane parent would hose their toddler down like that because they were crying. There's a difference between hosing down a dirty kid (which is what I first assumed) and blasting your kid with water to make them shut up. There are much better ways to deal with a crying child.

What in the hell would ever prompt a person to think of something such as that, let alone actually do it?

Sick.

21. THis is sick, but:
I'd like the shove the pressure washer hose up that woman's vagina and then turn on the water. That would make one hell of a douche. Then ask the woman how she like it.
