Queen not required to give inquest evidence
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=335133

Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip will not be called to give evidence at the London inquest into the death of princess Diana, the coroner has ruled.

The coroner, Judge Scott Baker said he did not think it was expedient to call the Duke of Edinburgh to give evidence, nor ask the Queen to answer questions posed the lawyer of Mohamed al-Fayed.

Mr al-Fayed is the father of Diana's lover Dodi Fayed, who was killed in the 1997 Paris car crash.

You see the Queens and Dukes in the world don't have to go under oath just like Bush & Cheney don't have to go under Oath

we are back in the times where the laws only apply to the commoners not the rich and powerful

3. Also not sure what information they could add that was not already available
Is there something substantive or is it just a fishing expedition.

At this point I find the arguments that is was an accident the most persuasive. But don't have a lot invested in the issue one way or the other.

5. I don't think they were involved in any sort of murder...
but who knows if they might have something important to add?

Not thinking they should talk smacks of elitism or a coverup or both.

7. Not sure that is true...have to reread the Magna Carta at the very least
Under the UK system, the Queen is a sovereign and gets treated like that. However its not a get out of jail free card for her or the royals. Its not clear if they have any light to shed on the death of Diana either.

I am not big on political dynasties in this country, and we have them in both major parties. And in the US members of those dynasties have indeed been given privileges the rest of us do not have.

8. I would have to say that the Royal Sovereigns have a history
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 01:22 AM by lovuian
of murder genocide and being above the law

Courts are to be used to kill your wife cousin or just someone you don't like

henry the eigth had Ann Boleyn and Thomas More beheaded

they had a court proceeding all on trumped up charges

Elizabeth killed her own cousin Queen Mary
all perfectly legal she was sovereign

Sovereigns don't have a very good track record over the years

9. Careful about Mary Queen of Scots
she was plotting the overthrow of Elizabeth and then there was the murder of her husband by her lovers. The silver casket letters were gems in their day.
