I don't know if I want to be a Democrat anymore.
There is so much hatefulness here. What happened to my party? Brothers and sisters, stop it. Come back together. Please. I'm hurting, folks. Come on, now. Let's get our pride back. You know, smile on your brother. Or do we need a new party. It's easy to be hateful; over the hump is without trial.

3. Just be glad people are excited about this primary
When was the last time that we had this level of participation. People are interested in politics, they are realizing that they have to be otherwise the people they trusted to protect them will screw them. And look what party they're coming to. You definitely want to be a Democrat. The apathy that had seized the country is shifting to interest. Yes, some supporters have crossed the line, but this is better than apathy. After the primary is over, the people who are truly Democrats will be united behind our candidate. And those that leave were never here for more than their own satisfaction. Things will calm down, but this is better than people not caring.

6. DU has been infiltrated by RW operatives.
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 05:03 AM by Breeze54
They usually do not have profiles and they've been members for years

but have extremely low post counts... they lie in wait for elections.

Be more observant and stay. This hate to shall pass....

Frequent the lounge and GD more often for a humanity refresher.

his advisers much less this primary campaign with a fellow Dem.

9. forget about being a Democrat and be true
to what you believe. If that coincides with what a Democrat believes, then you will accept your Democratic status easily. The rest is fonder and bullshit.

Be true to what you believe. The name Democrat is not what defines us. It's only a start.

I know what you mean. But YOU have the power! It's okay.:D

10. Hillary is a polarizing individual
If she does this to us Democrats, just imagine what she will do to Republicans in the General Election. No, on second thought, she will unite Republicans AGAINST her. They want her to be our candidate. Think she will have any prayer of Republicans crossing over and voting for her? Say hello to President McCain.

13. I Need More Time
I am an individual who has not yet made up their minds on who they support but I must confess that all the anger I am seeing concerns me. I certainly hope I do not get 'flamed' for this but honestly, there are some great qualities I see in each candidate. Of course, there are some downsides as well, to each. Senator Obama swells me with a great sense of pride that I can finally vote for someone who has true integrity and a genuine desire to aid all mankind. Senator Clinton has a proven track record of helping the impoverished and the downtrodden.

I feel that all of this anger is going to tear us apart and make us weaker when this should be a period when we should all be rejoicing at the opportunity to put someone into office who really cares for us.

16. Believe it or not, most DUers agree with you.
So do most Democrats and (I'm pretty damn sure) most Americans. There are a lot of our members who have abandoned the General Discussion Primaries forum altogether because of the wild rancor on both sides. (Not all of the anger is genuine, there are plenty of "pot-stirrers" over there, whose JOB it is to inflame).

I hope the process doesn't drag on much longer, as it is not to our benefit.

Welcome to DU.

23. "anti-Clinton bigot"
I don't support her because she is DLC through and through. She voted for giving Bush the go ahead for war. She has spoken openly in favor of NAFTA up until recently. So where is it I am a bigot? Do you possess the intellectual capacity to understand the mountain of ill will directed toward her for the past 15 years will be magnified many times over if she's our nominee? Can you understand that is why the R's are cross-voting in droves because they know it will excite their base? It's happening in PA right now. Court Houses are inundated with party switchers so they can mess with our primary. How can you want the nomination so badly you'll even accept hundreds of thousands of R's voting for her now only to vote for McCain in November? You know they're doing it, don't you?

15. What is your alternative right now?

I feel your pain but what I'm doing is trying to get more REAL progressives in office... from the bottom up.

Nothing and no group is ever or ever will be perfect but more voter involvement can make a difference.

Think about it! "Rome wasn't built in a day."

As for me? I'm taking my country back... now!!!

17. Don't let the griefers get you down.

Really, there seem to be a lot of people here solely out to cause grief and disillusionment among Democrats.

Some of these so-called "supporters" of one candidate or another can't possibly be for real.

I mean, no one with such poor reasoning skills as some of these "supporters" display... with so much spare time on their hands... such fists-clenched, spittle-flying, veins-bustin'-out-of-forehead devotion to a politician...

Well, they would never actually be allowed to use something as dangerous a computer keyboard unsupervised, would they? :D

21. don't read the gd-p threads
They are depressing. I think both Democratic candidates would be fine presidents but it's human nature to want to see the best side of your favorite and the worst in the other. Life is better when I don't feed that inclination.

22. Like many here, I avoid GD:P,
but the problem is many of the more rabid proponents for the candidates track their vituperative rancor into the other rooms. It's as if they're unaware that they are turning people off of their candidates with their abysmal behavior. I like both candidates, I just don't care for the abuse some of their supporters spew onto each other.
