Blackwater withdraws its application to build in Potrero (near San Diego) |
Blackwater was originally welcomed with open arms by the original Potrero planning group; a successful recall election was held, and a pro-quality of life and anti-Blackwater planning group was installed. As a result, a project that looked inevitable (the Blackwater site) is no more, and this is in a place that helped elect Bush.
The moral of the story is that we can make a difference. This only took place because people took action: wrote letters, made phone calls, and organized. Keep the faith, and keep fighting the good fight.

2. There were 3 or 4 major fires burning in different parts of SD in late Oct. 07 |
The first fire started in Potrero - which raised a lot of speculation. This was during the heated recall of the pro-Blackwater group, and people and animals were being evacuated, not to mention the many structures being burned.

5. And great news for the community - this would have been 824 acres of simulated warfare |
in a quiet, rural community of horses, children riding bikes, retired folk, families.
