I, for one, am glad that Cheney is OK after assasination attempt
First I wouldn't want to see him turned into a martyr for the right wing. How sickening. Can you imagine a Cheney Memorial in Washington?

Second, I don't want any harm to come to him before he goes to trial in The Hague. I want to see him live a long and healthy life in solitary confinement in Spandeau Prison.

1. I'd hope that no one actually wishes him ill
that is wrong, against the rules, and against the law. If you see anyone posting such please alert the moderators.

6. Nobody would have wanted him harmed
I think we're all glad that Cheney was not hurt in the apparent assassination attempt.

Whatever one thinks about the vice president, it would be an outrage if he were injured or killed by the likes of the despicable Taliban.

It is, however, tragic that others died. Let's not let them die in vain. Let's get serious about finishing the job in Afghanistan!

3. I agree. I don't want anything to happen to Bush or Cheney or any of the rest of them.
Because it's wrong, regardless of how people may feel about them.

They need to be held accountable for their actions in a legal manner that protects their rights. Anything less would put justice in the same gray area that they operate in. Bush and Cheney need to be held as an example of what happens when you don't respect the Constitution and the rights of the American people.

11. They'll get away with their crimes
These people will never be held accountable for their actions, we'd have better chance of turning lead into gold, or watching dollar bills grow on trees!

As for either Bush or Cheney being held as examples of any kind, that's a pipe dream.

36. Cheney does have health problems...
When he dies I will not shed any tears but I don't think I will be dancing in the streets though I will probably open up a nice bottle of wine for the occasion, in private of course.

5. If he, Cheney, were to leave office for health or choice reasons,
then *bush would appoint a new vice....and that appointment would no doubt be one off the GOP Presidential Primary list. That would elevate their status for the nomination.....

So, I too am glad Cheney is not injured.

10. I still believe in karma. Cheney will be held responsible for
his actions one way or another. That's why revenge is futile and I don't recommend it in any situation. His destiny is like a pre-dated check, full of promise on the date recorded.

22. I don't want to see Dead Eye Dick hurt at all. Like so many others
I want to see him on trial at The Hague for crimes against humanity. I want him somewhere out of the reach of the omnipotent powers of a presidential pardon.

That said, I smell a "staged" event. A straw that KKKarl is grasping to turn the conversation away from poorly planned wars, COS on trial, low poll numbers, the list is endless. Wasn't he on a secret trip? How did the terrorists find out where he was? Is his security that bad? Is there a leak? Thought they were the guys who would keep us safer? They can't even keep a slimeball like Dead Eye out of harm's way? Puhleeze. How convenient. I don't believe for a second he was in any real danger but it sure plays well to the sheeple.

And yes, I still believe Dead Eye will be gone before the '08 election cycle. They need an incumbent VP running for the Republics to have any chance of getting a candidate elected. Think they will hedge their bets until they see a real front runner for the Republic party and then they magically find themselves in need of a VP due to "health" reasons.

My tin foil hat is a little tight this morning.

You make great points. Please, with all the keeping him in undisclosed locations. They let him go there? And once they had him there, they did not do everything in their powerful arsenal of security techniques to make his safety a certainty?

No way, Jose.

29. As much as I hate the son-of-a-bitch, killing him won't accomplish anything.
Given that 23% of the population has a high level of right-wing authoritarianism, and 4% can be described as sociopathic, there are plenty of assholes waiting in line to replace him.

There's also the martyr factor (a Cheney Memorial? EWWWW!) and the fact that acts of violence don't discourage, but actually energize those with fascist tendencies. Kill Cheney, and they'll all be crawling out of the woodwork, demanding even more police-state powers.

Non-violence is far more powerful and productive. Get enough people shouting out, and those in power will eventually have no choice but to arrest Cheney and put him on trial for war crimes.

I am sure Bush and his remaining cronies would have found a way to use Cheney's death to justify an attack on Iran.
