Jon Stewart to Dana Perino last night

Stewart asked her if she'd been asked to lie to the press, and she said no (quite offended). He then stated flatly that every one of her predecessors had lied all the time.

Maybe we just different standards of what kissing ass is all about.

6. The Helen Thomas comment is what got me going...

she said that Helen Thomas asked questions not based in reality and Stewart let it slide.

Stewart chose to point out that Perino was talking about Thomas as if she were a tumor. Listen to the exchange:

The crowd was laughing and Stewart was reacting to the "Helen" comment when Perion dropped her "not based on fact" bomb. It's possible that Jon didn't hear it or chose not to give Perino a national stage to bitch about reporters.

Also keep in mind that Perino was waaaay overmatched. If Stewart sparred with her as he did with Snow, he would have come across as a massive bully.

at Perino. He did ash her if she ever lied. My question. If Dumbo appeared on Stewart's show, would Stewart pull a Colbert and totally humiliate the sleezeball.

8. Well in his defense...

he had no choice...you know how high pitched her voice gets when she's under pressure and how fast she talks...if he would have pushed it would have sounded like he was interviewing Alvin and the Chipmunks.

5. I think it's hung a rethug week on TDS

It's the 4th loser in a row. Last night I shut it off when she walked on the stage. I think at this point even Stewart has to be bored with interviewing these stupid people with nothing of interest to say.

7. With Perino, Stewart has now interviewed all of Bush's press secretaries.

All have been interesting. Stewart has been awful to all of them on his show prior to interviewing them.

Fleischer -- Stewart has called him dickish and a blatant liar. When he interviewed Fleischer, he called him neither of those names. Imagine that.

McClellan -- His interview with Scott McClellan was the softest of all four. He allowed McClellan to say what he wanted about Bush and didn't push him hard.

Snow -- He interviewed Snow after resigning due to the recurrence of his cancer. It was a totally kind interview.

It is a very rare occurrence when Stewart bares his claws. In his interviews, he always try to make his audience find something to like about his guest. I find that admirable and useful.

10. I'll have to take your word for it

After the night before listening to Mr. Water Torture is Good, I couldn't stand another rethug. Particularly Perino who's press conferences are generally hard to watch. I don't mind him having Perino on, but 4 nights in a row of rethug interviews... I believe even John has to be bored with the current bookings. There's only so many nights you can get fired up to talked to someone with vacuous ideas.

Can't fault yah. As far as I can tell his secret inside CIA information came from AP stories of Bush speeches. Genius.
