The Brits had the supreme privilege this morning of hearing Rush Limbaugh interviewed!
And as far as I'm concerned, the Americans can definitely keep him!

It was on a Radio 4 programme about disability called "No Triumph, No Tragedy". He talked about his cochlear implant and the difference it had made to him, and then about how the government shouldn't fund stem cell research, and scientists who want it to do so are just people who can't get grants from private organizations. So I suppose medical research is only all right when he benefits from it.

He was also on about how it isn't 'harsh' to want people to get on without excuses, too much help, or being treated as 'victims', because 'how is it harsh to want people to do the best they can do, and be the best they can be'. All I can say is if he is the best he can be, I fear to think what would be the worst! He sounds even worse than Maggie Thatcher.

1. Were there follow-up callers making comments to the show ?
Just wondering. Wish Rush would just go away...or be put away.

5. It wasn't a talk show, but there have been comments
Edited on Tue Feb-27-07 02:48 PM by LeftishBrit
"No Triumph, No Tragedy" is a radio series of interviews with well-known people, mostly in the media, who have experience of disability. The interview is Peter White, the BBC Disability Affairs correspondent, who is blind and has been a radio presenter since the 70s. Other people interviewed have included Sir John Mortimer, Heather Rose the actress, and Emma Bowler, the TV director. It's a good series and most of the interviewees have been interesting and made sense; but there always has to be one exception!

However, there have been comments already, and I expect there'll be more - the programme will be repeated this evening, and I think that listener comments and any reviews will be negative.

2. A man who can only make a living by hating and lying
blathers on about doing the best one can do and being the best they can be. Well he's hit that low mark in his life. And don't forget the rule of law and how it applies to drug abusers. His mother and father failed miserably as parents. If you can stand to discover the truth of genetics, read his brother David's work. He's a whiner of the nth degree.

Yes rush was the best he could be in the early 70's as he made every effort not to be the best he could be by serving his country. A coward, a liar, a failure, a racist, a drug abuser and god knows what he is in the Dominican Republic. I'd be ashamed to give him to another country.

3. Is there a Brit version of Rush Limpballs?
Maybe we could swap out for a little bit. Perhaps the wing-nuttery would sound a little more pleasant if delivered with an English accent.

I hope you can see that it's not just that America has lost its mind over the past two decades, it's been propagandized by the likes of Rush. Osama Bin Laden can only dream of the kind of damage Rush has done to our country.

6. There is no exact 'talk show' equivalent; but I would say that successive editors of the Daily Mail
and Daily Express come pretty close.

7. "He sounds even worse than Maggie Thatcher."
I would hope so! I mean, he's not a politician thank goodness, but was Ms. Thatcher that horrible? My condolences.
