Fox News: Anna Nicole - as important as Iraq (what? Not more important????)
Edited on Tue Feb-27-07 02:58 PM by The Count
”Fox News came out swinging at all the “snobs that are ignoring the tragedy of Anna Nicole Smith and focusing on the silly Iraq war.

Fox News host John Gibson remains fixated on the late Playboy playmate. Every day since Smith’s death on Feb. 8, Gibson has devoted significant segments of his show “The Big Story” to Anna Nicole.

On his radio show on Friday, Gibson attempted to defend his coverage. He accused reporters — such as CNN’s Anderson Cooper — of “news-guy snobbery” and attacked them for covering the Iraq war. Mocking Cooper, he said, “Oh, ‘There’s a war on! There’s a war on!’ Maybe, just maybe, people are a little weary, Mr. Cooper, of your war coverage, and they’d like a little something else.”

1. You're either with Anna Nicole, or you're against her.

If you don't like Anna Nicole, then you must be a *&^%ing traitor.

I'll bet you don't even have a "Support Anna Nicole" magnetic ribbon on your pickup truck, do ya?

You people make me sick.

God Bless Anna Nicole.

6. A traitor AND a terr'ist.
Only someone completely un-American would even think for a moment that the deaths of thousands of US military men and women (not to mention Iraqi civilians) in an illegal war are more important and worthy of news coverage than a former Playboy model. :sarcasm: (<-- hoping that wasn't necessary, but you never know ;))

Forgive me if I seem a little bitter...yes, it's sad that Anna Nicole Smith is dead, but she got twenty more years of life than my friend who was killed in Iraq that same week will ever have. And if I have a choice between watching the legal drama of the ANS case or staying informed about this war, I'll gladly choose the latter. It may be painful, and it certainly won't be pretty, but I feel like I owe it to my friend to get all the facts and stay up-to-date on this war. I can't - and won't - just let my mind be numbed by vapid media coverage of a celebrity's sensational death and the resultant legal battles. In order to prevent more soldiers and Marines like my friend from getting killed in this illegal, unethical, immoral war, I feel that I must keep that pain fresh in my mind; keep the anger burning bright and use it to accomplish something positive.

OK, rant over.

2. Sure she is
How can we expect flag waving patriotic bush supporters to constantly concern themselves with bad news constantly brought to them by the constantly liberal evil new media? Its always some concocted story from Iraq about people getting killed. Hell, people die in car wrecks; and never forget those brave soldiers are in Iraq because they volunteered to be there by god. They are fighting to protect our way of life which is to sit on our fat asses and watch news stories about Anna Nicole Smith after we cash our welfare checks and bitch about non white people who get welfare checks.

No! Patriotic flag waving conservative bush supporters should not have to know about American casualties in Iraq. What's the point?

8. Remember about our intentions
Absolutely no offense to anyone who reads this. That is not my intent. Only to give an idea to you. And that is:

Should we even care about this kind of stuff? Ignoring Fox actually can and will work. Just as John and Yoko have said. Don't pay attention to it (war, slandering, negativity for negativity sake, etc.) and they can have their B.S. Let the naive be naive. Concentrate on things that we Love, like the lives of Iraqis, all Troops everywhere, and peace on Earth. The science of consciousness is actually proving this to be true. Of course, it isn't this simple. But still.

WAR IS OVER, if you want it. -John Lennon & Yoko Ono

Namaste.
