WOW, East of Eden. What a movie. War profiteering during WWI

Been watching it on PBS.

1. When I think of war profiteering, what usually comes to mind is a picture of Gen. Smedley Butler.

He hated war profiteers with a passion, and he points the finger at them and the bank boys on Wall Street for instigating wars to boost profits.

2. Must be a much different East of Eden than the version I read

Read it several times over the last 40 years actually.

3. Read the book some time

It goes into much better detail about the whole thing.

Steinbeck is always a good read. Kazan took a lot of liberties with the movie.
