2-Headed Snakes As Common As Dogs
How do you describe something that was once unheard of that is common now?

In 1979 the Federal Government 'bailed out' Chrysler Corporation by lending it money. There was a public outcry, there was public sympathy, there was a long, loud, civil, and serious argument as to the propriety of the Government intervening to save any company. In short there was a national debate. This was Government in the sunshine.

In the end the deal was done and, after a while, it came to a satisfactory end. The company was saved, jobs were preserved, the money was paid back (early too). So if the ends justified the means this was a good deal for the people. But do the ends justify the means?

Sunday the Government bailed out another company. Only a relative handful of people even knew about it until after it was done. The result of this bailout lasted less than 24 hours. No jobs were saved and 'we the people' will never see a dime of that money returned. This is Government in the dark of night.
