AOL Poll On Al Gore Running For President |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-27-07 11:24 PM by OrangeCountyDemocrat
DU this poll if you can. Right now it's 51-49 in favor of people thinking Mr. Gore should run. Second question about whether he will run has less support. Wooops. Sorry 'bout that. http://news.aol.com/dailypulse/022707/_a/should-gore-run/20070227110209990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001

5. 42% say his best role has been as environmentalist |
|
And I couldn't agree more. I say stay a free man, Mr. Gore! You can make great changes in this world from a post where you will not be strangled by beltway bs and where your passion for this will not be compromised. You have experience, vision, and now many more resources and outlets to do as YOU choose to exact positive political and economic policy on a global scale.

7. You Really Don't Want Him To Run |
|
I know how you think he's not going to run, but you sincerely would prefer that he doesn't, is that correct?
Would you actually be disappointed were he to enter and win the Democratic nomination?

12. I owe no explanations as to my opinions of this good man |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-28-07 06:48 AM by RestoreGore
I do not owe you nor anyone else any explanation as to why I believe this good man TRANSCENDS your political one track mind status quo BS. If you don't see the true URGENCY of what is going on with this planet now even after all he and many scientists have stated, you never will. He is going about this the right way in order to effect change and to seek to solve this crisis by engaging US in this fight because we are causing this crisis, and this movement NEEDS HIM to continue to warn, enlighten, inform, and inspire people as well as using his influence, resources, experience, and knowledge of this crisis to bring about sweeping changes in political policy globally NOW in order to mitigate the complete destruction of our only life support system.
The survival of this planet is more important than these BS polls and rah rah threads, and I ABSOLUTELY believe there is no one else who will be able to inspire and conduct this grassroots movement other than Mr. Gore. I love him, respect him, and have COMPLETE faith in him that he will finally be able to accomplish what the beltway STOPPED him from doing for so many years. Therefore, since I have explained myself many times here I am not going to answer any of your questions in an attempt to somehow demean my support for this man simply because I won't jump on some rah rah train now that I believe is most certainly diverting the issue and demeaning his conviction on this.
I have fought long and hard for this man and defended hin for a very long time and will continue to do that. But perhaps I can see what you can't see or refuse to see now. I am also not OBSESSED with one election, and frankly at this point don't CARE about it at all. I am using the time I have NOW to help him on this effort because as scientists ahave predicted (and they may even be generous in this) this planet is running out of time before that tipping point comes.
Now, if you are going to continue to attack my opinions here so be it. It only proves you support the hype and not the substance of what this man is warning us about. He is asking us to wake up and change this world OURSELVES NOW before it is too late, and that is my focus. I'm so sorry if not standing with my poms poms on the sidelines screaming run al run everyday while this crisis worsens disappoints you. I am sorry if having priorities and putting this planet first upsets you, but I really am getting tired of being jumped on in this forum every single time I honestly and sincerely state my opinions on this.

32. you keep asking for proof |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-28-07 09:48 AM by catgirl
which is ridiculous. He is his own man after all. You can't look at past presidents to find the "proof" you're asking for. That's just a weak reaction when you have can't respond to a reasonable comment. You are so aggressive towards Al Gore supporters, that I question your motives here. How long have you been this consumed as to what Gore's role should be?
There's absolutely nothing wrong with people cheering on a Gore run. In the end, he'll make his own mind up. Can we just have peaceful threads? You start arguments in EVERY Gore thread that talks about a run for president. He is the best person for the job, don't you think? And he will make a bigger impact for the environment. There are other environmental catastrophies occurring that need to be addressed (deforestation for example), and he will address them better then anyone else AS POTUS.

34. It is obvious this is over your head |
|
I asked this: to offer a precedent from the last thirty years to show that global warming has been a successful issue and that anything of substance was done on it without being subsequently reversed. Offer me a guarantee that anything accomplished would be comprehensive and evasive enough to actually make a difference NOW without a sustained and vocal outcry from informed citizens first, and that it still wouldn't favor the special interest corporate status quo. Offer me proof that it would be guarateed to be done NOW with all of the other problems he would have to contend with... Offer me proof that he would even be able to address the crisis effectively as he is now, with the military industrial complex stopping him every step of the way. Matter of fact, give me a GUARANTEE that this corporate owned system would even allow him to win again, and that he would not have to sacrifice all he has worked for besides his soul to do it. If you can't do any of those things, then don't you question my opinions.

17. Look at the Gore vs Hillary vs Obama vs Edwards comparisons. Gore wins them all. |
|
He totally destroys the other candidates. The question about whether or not he should run is irrelevant, the question is if he can defeat the rest of the candidates.

21. As president he'd have to devide his time between environmentalism and |
|
other issues - as an environmentalist he can dedicate all his time to environmentalism, which would make him more effective as an environmentalist.
I'll leave it up to the man himself to decide what he does.

Less sweeping even than Gore might want to do.
But regardless, i don't think there's much we can tell Gore about these matters that he doesn't already know.

24. the 2nd question is skewed |
|
It's subtle, but it's there. Did you notice that all the other questions that have a yes or no answer, the yes is the "option A"? On question 2, the no is in the "option A" spot. I actually marked no by accident as i'm sure a statistically significant number of other people have. Wonder why they want us to say he won't run?
