Did teacher really tell 10-year old Obama's Muslim?
Mods, I hope this is allowable here. This has nothing to do with the primaries and everything to do with the state of our education, or lack of, in this country. Thanks.

Did teacher really tell 10-year old Obama's Muslim?

by Frank James

Yet more evidence for why American schoolchildren are falling behind their peers overseas...

DOVER, Del. (AP) — A Delaware state human relations commission is investigating allegations that a fifth-grade teacher told her class she wouldn't vote for Barack Obama because he is "scary" and a Muslim.

The mother of a 10-year-old student complained, saying her daughter's teacher made the comments during a mock primary on Super Tuesday last month at a southeastern Delaware elementary school. The student is a Muslim.

The Democratic presidential candidate is a Christian, but he's had to fight against false Internet rumors suggesting he's really a Muslim intent on destroying the United States.

The Indian River School District says it has resolved the issue after meeting with the mother and the teacher who allegedly made the comments.

Wonder how this school is doing on its federal "No Child Left Behind" act goals? Maybe if Obama becomes president, he can start a "No Teacher Left Behind" program.

Another question. What exactly can Delaware's human-relations committee do if it indeed substantiates the allegation?

12. Not only that but stupid as heck
The recent dust-up with Obama's preacher should tell everyone who doubts it that, indeed, Obama practices being a Christian. Rev. Wright does not preach to a Muslim church, does he? Nope, definitely his is a Christian church.

2. I see Indianapolis has suspended a teacher for using
"Freedom Writers Diary" as part of her English class. Saw it on CNN.com

don't go teaching diversity and the love of learning to black and brown kids. We need them for our prison system.

4. Same thing happened to my daughter...
12 years old, sixth grader, here in Lubbock, Texas. Someone asked the teacher who she was voting for in the Texas primary and her response is, 'well I sure won't vote for Obama because he's Muslim.' My daughter tried to correct her, but the teacher wouldn't have it. My wife sent her a very lengthy email pointing out the truth, and she wrote that she was sorry. But she never apologized or clarified to the class.

And this lady is a teacher at a magnet school, honors class. Makes you wonder....

5. I'll match your Obama's a Muslim and raise you a missing rib
I knew a teacher (who didn't "believe" in evolution) that told her students that men have one less rib than women, because Adam's "missing" rib was passed on to future generations.

7. sounds like my 22 yo niece.
i have been bugging her to register to vote so, when she finally told me she had, it was bittersweet. she registered so she could help defeat obama because he's a terrorist . . . just look at his name! she actually said that, before saying she would never vote for a black for president.

oh well, at least i finally got her uncle to register and he's left-leaning. he keeps teasing me that he will vote for mccain . . . but i promise you that he won't. :headbang:

8. She needs to be summarily dismissed for using her soapbox to
spread malicious political propaganda.

There is no excuse for claiming he's muslim these days with the whole Jeremiah what's-his-name thing in the news. Anyone who claims he's muslim is a deliberate LIAR.

9. WAIT, WAIT, WAIT
I got one better: (From an email I received)

According to The Book of Revelations the anti-Christ is:

The anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, will destroy everything. Is it OBAMA??

If you think I am crazy..I'm sorry but I refuse to take a chance on the "unknown" candidate

10. Yeah. I think your idea is crazy.
If you are gonna let a 2000 year old much altered writing guide your politics here and now, you're crazy.

Thing is, if you are seeking change, Obama will give you change. The world is being destroyed by the people in power now. If we are going to change the course then we need someone different. Hillary is no change from the current course of ruination.

11. I got that one, too
I replied "Bullshit."

Idiots who pass this stuff around and those who believe it wouldn't be voting for Obama anyway.

Still I wold think they would want him to win, thereby hastening the Rapture.

18. I don't see an answer to your question in that article.
I would prefer to presume innocence until provided with a clearcut answer.

As far as the statement about education, or the lack of it, in the U.S., let's put the blame squarely where it belongs:

On the backs of citizens who have embraced the right-wing hatred for intellect, who have embraced the right-wing attacks on education for the last several decades, who support politicians who enact legislation at both the state and federal level that increases the dysfunction of the system and assists in the destruction of the system, rather than nurturing and supporting public education.
