"Bob Barr (former GOP) is set to announce his Libertarian bid for President on Saturday. At first it seems silly but his candidacy may skim 2-3% or more from McCain's total."

Has anyone else heard anything about this? I would love to see him run, because he would definitely draw Republican votes away from McCain, but not draw Dem votes.

1. I have a good friend who bleeds Republican
and he rails about how there will be 2 Democrats running for president in November (McCain is one of them). I could see him voting for a Libertarian in a heartbeat.

2. I have always been amazed that Libertarians have been willing to join up with the
Christofascists and the neocons to give Republicans an electoral boost. I guess money and power are just far more important than principle to most of them. Fortunately, Bush's bizarrely dysfunctional administration seems to have broken the Republican coalition.

In 2002, just 15 percent of libertarian voters supported a Democratic candidate for Senate. By 2004, fully 43 percent of all libertarian voters did – a 287 percent increase in just two years.

On the House side, only 23 percent of libertarian voters supported a Democratic candidate in 2002 – but that number almost doubled to 44 percent by 2004.

Washington, D.C. - Following a solid McCain victory in the Super Tuesday primaries, the Libertarian Party has sent Republican headquarters a funeral wreath marking the death of limited-government values within the Republican Party. The wreath was hand-delivered to the D.C. offices of the Republican National Committee. "We simply felt the need to express our heartfelt sympathy for the Republican Party as they undergo this tough time within their party," says Libertarian Party National Media Coordinator Andrew Davis, who delivered the wreath.

3. I hope this is true
I really do hope there is truth in this. He would certainly take Republican votes and have no impact on Democrats. He would make a good Libertarian.....personally can stand the guy, but would love to see this happen!!!
