Edited on Wed Feb-28-07 06:50 PM by brentspeak
Let me get this straight: all the RW has to do is simply have one of its think tanks hack out a PR hit piece on Al Gore, send it over to the Associated Press, and the Associated Press will then automatically run a story on it as if it's actually a genuine news item? (ie. The AP story that a RW think tank released a (bogus, but the story doesn't say) accusation about Gore's household electrical use). Did the head of AP just happen to bump into some Republican mover-and-shaker at last night's D.C. cocktail party and agree to do him/her this little favor? Is it that they attend the same country club?

Edward R. Murrow is spinning in his grave faster than an electron.

3. Unlike Fox News, the AP verified the information first. But...
Yes, they bothered to contact the power company, to review some of Gore's bills, and to point out that the think tank has right-wing ties. But since the the claim turned out to be bogus, shouldn't the AP should have either written the story accordingly ("Al Gore...is being UNFAIRLY criticized by a conservative group that claims...(he) uses too much electricity") or not at all? Anyway, the e-mail address on their web site is info@ap.org
