So does John Kerry get to keep his 15 million + war chest?
Edited on Wed Jan-24-07 06:36 PM by Philosoraptor
Or should he spread the wealth around to get a good candidate elected president?

1. Keep it to have good Democrats elected in the Senate and the House...

3. Like he already did last year??
Why would anybody think he'd do anything but help get a good candidate elected?

6. I don't think anyone really thought he would just pocket the cash.
The real question is how much he is going to hang onto to keep the Bay State blue.

4. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.
:7

Of course he does need to hang onto enough to win reelection. I don't need my native state turning red just when they finally got rid of a string of R governors.

5. I'm not sure
he can give it to a candidate. He may be able to give it to the party - or he can keep it for election in '08.

8. I would assume that he will do the "right" thing with the money
As he has done all along.
Regardless of what many on the other side of the aisle say, John Kerry is an HONORABLE man.
It's not something that is going to cause me sleepless nights.

9. Technically it's his. And he may distribute it or use it as he pleases.
However, given the fact that he bailed out the DNC in 05 so that they could start 06 in the black, he donated more than any other candidate towards the 06 elections AND according to Hotline he donated more time, more money and his email list to taking back the Congress--I personally think it's time for people to stop bemoaning a 'war chest' when Hillary Clinton, Edwards, and others didn't waste their precious time or name helping others in 06 to the same extent Kerry did. (AND these are verifiable facts--look at opensecrets and hotline for the links)

18. I second that- Kucinich helped bring in some of those donations
or actually how about he use all that money to run ads and lobby to pass Kucinich's paper ballot bill HR6200?

hand counted ballots, counted and posted at the precincts.

He owes us that much!

11. Suggest a candidate that reaches Kerry's calibre of commitment to anti-corruption and
open government and I imagine that is who he would support in every way.

Can you name that person who has uncovered and exposed more government corruption than John Kerry? Can you name one running for office who has even come even HALFWAY CLOSE to uncovering and exposing as much government corruption than John Kerry has?

14. Kucinich would be the closest. But even still, he hasn't exposed even half the
corruption that Kerry has, and you know I am a longtime Kucinich fan. I believe Kucinich would LIKE to have done more investigating but was thwarted time and time again.

13. .
Of all the politicians out there, Kerry is among the very few I'd trust to use the money in a way that is best for the Party and not only for himself.

19. I think all these millions should be returned or distributed, no matter who
Not picking on John alone, should've made it clearer. I just don't like the idea of them getting to keep it if they so choose.

And I also hate the fact that it takes at least 10 million to run for president.

20. Frankly, I'm not even sure he has that much
That number came from Donna Brazille, and I don't trust her.

He will use whatever amount he has to good Democratic benefit like he did for the 2006 midterms.

And those of us on his mailing list too.
