Resources on how McCain cheated on his wife and married a theif and opiate junkie
Disclaimer: This information is designed for democratic activists to present to dishonorable right wingers who make a habit of playing guilt by association and other games about Obama's or Clinton's past associations. It is not meant for offense but by God when they hit us we need to swing back and knock them the @R%$ out.

"On top of that, his personal life was a mess: Although he was still living with his wife, he was aggressively courting a 25-year-old woman who was as beautiful as she was rich."1

He left his first wife "who had been crippled in a car accident - in favour of a trophy bride to enhance his political ambitions."2

"In 1979 at a military reception in Honolulu, McCain met Cindy Hensley, an attractive 25-year-old woman from a very wealthy politically-connected Arizona family. Cindy's father, Jim, founded the Hensley and Company, the nation's third-largest Anheuser-Busch distributor.

McCain described their first meeting, "She was lovely, intelligent and charming, 17 years my junior but poised and confident. I monopolized her attention the entire time, taking care to prevent anyone else from intruding on our conversation. When it came time to leave the party, I persuaded her to join me for drinks at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. By the evening's end, I was in love."

While still married to Carol, McCain began an adulterous relationship with Cindy. He married Cindy in May 1980 -- just a month after dumping Carol and securing a divorce. The newlyweds honeymooned in Hawaii.

McCain followed his young, millionairess wife back to Arizona where her father helped catapult McCain into politics."3

"In 1989, Cindy McCain became addicted to opioid painkillers such as Percocet and Vicodin,<25> which she initially took to alleviate pain following two spinal surgeries for ruptured discs<26><27> and to ease emotional stress during the Keating Five scandal,<25> which involved her as a bookkeeper who had difficulty finding receipts.<15> The addiction progressed to where she resorted to stealing drugs from her own AVMT.<26> During 1992, Tom Gosinski, the director of government and international affairs for AVMT, discovered her drug theft.<28>"4

2. I think her addiction should be left alone.
Keating is one thing, adultery is another.

But she is not some gasbag such as Limbaugh, and I think harping on her past addiction is chickenshit.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am a recovering heroin addict.

3. yep, and she's not running for anything.....
HOWEVER, if she ever gets on her high horse and goes after Michelle Obama like before, all bets are off. She's in public life now.

All this dirt goes on McCain, he's the scumbag here.

6. I agree.
But I don't think we should lead with that.

Although I do believe McCain should be keelhauled on the adultery thing.

13. I hope you didn't take my reply personally.
In no way did I intend to imply that you, or your post, was "chickenshit".

And I totally agree with your take on the enemy.

11. I agree. I think going after the wife's pain/addiction problems should be off limits.
If anything she should be admired for beating her addiction.

4. I been hearing Cindy McCain is an abused wife and often is called names
like CUNT from her husband. I heard there was a new book out on McCain with all this in it. The name of the book escapes me right now.

5. Why sully ourselves by muckingraking?
McCain's policies and lies and votes will be enough to bury them.

9. No, we need something embarrassing, like pictures of group sex, we can talk policy all day and...
all the voters will remember is the slime.

14. We're the wonks
policy and plan matters to us. To the average voter, it's all about personality and "character", whatever the hell that is. So, sullying his character, as odious as it is, is what will get John Q Public to think, such as that level of thinking is. I'd like to think my fellow Americans are above this, but in fact, most of them are 'Murkins and have no problem turning this into a lurid ice skating competition. They've done it before and they'll do it again and taking the high road will leave us out in the cold with McSame in the WH. We don't need another Alzheimered Puppet in the White House. The last quarter century has already seen too much of that.

17. Before 9/11, I was one of those voters
The only things I heard were the things the media chose to tell me, over and over and over again. After 9/11, the things they were telling me combined with the things I was seeing in the people around me didn't compute, so I started digging. Now, the rabbit hole is deep and I don't think I'll ever be able to be John Q Public again. Once the veneer is off, it's off for good.

18. Ditto --
only for me it wasn't until the Democratic debates began last year. I was getting more and more disgusted with what little I knew about Bushco, and was determined we had to get a Dem elected and I wanted to pay attention this time.

Previously, I'd just let those who were into it decide who the candidate would be, and just check the Dem's name on the ballot.

I'm glad I'm more informed now (still have a LONG way to go), but sometimes I feel like I've opened Pandora's box -- too overwhelming.

Kinda goes against the "Leave-it-to-Beaver" qualifications of the right wing, doesn't it?
