Okay, here's your chance to THANK George Bush
I realized last night while watching Countdown that I am actually grateful to the Bush administration for a few things. (Please, don't :puke:, stick with me for a minute here.) It was when Keith was talking about Cheney at the White House Correspondents Dinner. I realized that before Bush was elected, I didn’t even know such an event was held every year. And I am so very thankful for that despicable piece of film from the dinner a couple years ago where Bush is looking for the WMDs. That little shot of the little emperor opened so many minds in this country. It was one of the first things to cause the American Idol watching American public to wake up and realize that maybe, just maybe, this war wasn’t such a good idea after all.

So I decided to make a list and I am asking DUers to add to my list. What are YOU grateful to the Bush administration for?

1. Before this Bush, I didn’t know there was a White House Correspondents Dinner (see comment above)

2. Before this Bush, I knew Republicans were misguided but I didn’t realize the full extent of their evil nature. Now my eyes are wide open and I am very much aware of how truly evil the GOP is in America.
:scared:

3. I know way too many people who not only never paid attention to US politics, but hadn’t even voted before this man became our president. Now these people are registered and paying attention. They were inspired by Worst President Ever to get involved.
:applause:

4. I am a public school teacher and I didn’t appreciate how well we educated our children in our public schools until No Child Left Behind forced us to abandon our effective practices. So I am grateful that for the first 20 years of my career, I was part of a system that worked and worked well. As I approach the end of my career as a teacher, I do have successes to reflect back upon.
:toast:

5. When Bush took office, gas was $1.46 a gallon and we were surrounded by SUVs. Road hogging, gas guzzling SUVs. As the price of gas has gone up, more fuel efficient vehicles are on our roads. So I am grateful for fewer gas guzzlers.
:patriot:

Okay, now add yours. What are YOU grateful to Bush for?

Oh, I am also grateful that he will be GONE in 9 months. :bounce:

4. LOL "yet" is truly the key word there
I am encouraged that Biden and Conyers have both told him they will start impeachment proceedings if he invades Iran. And I pray he really DOES NOT WANT to be impeached.

6. I think maybe w is of the mind set that you are here one day and gone the next
as we see it for other inhabitants of this world rather than believing in an afterlife that being a Christian is all about so he doesn't really give a damn what he's remembered for as he only gives a damn for what he can get by with today, how much he can steal and how much misery he can foist upon his fellow humans. His is a very troubled being no doubt.

5. K&R
I am grateful he has helped millions of Americans sharpen their observation skills. Before Bush too many people just accepted what a president said. Now even the least politically inclined people have learned how to spot lies, half truths and double speak.

I am grateful that he has reawakened political activism. Before Rove and Bush no one really paid much attention to under handed politics. Most of the country is now aware elections were tampered with to control the outcome.

7. Along that same line (and in all honesty)
Much of the American public is now much more aware of what really goes on in our government especially the executive branch. And thank goodness, these newly awakened citizens are for the most part pissed off about it.

9. I am thankful that George Bush has released my inhibitions. I use much fouler language now that I'm
60 than I ever did at any other point in my life. I no longer 'bite my tongue' anywhere. If I'm in a restaurant or airport and the idiot-in-chief comes on the TV, I freely express my loathing.

13. LOL
It's very true. BB (before bush) I didn't swear very often. I can't say that anymore. In face, the name Bush is very rarely used around here as he's become a lyin sack of shit. Sometimes more adjectives accompany the phrase.

14. Bush has inspired me to travel a lot more!
I would like to go abroad but sadly the weakened dollar has prevented me from doing so.
