How Many On Your Ignore List Have Been Tombstoned? |
|
BOTH sides Clinton and Obama supporters. Now I know there are going to be a few people who will shame on us for having anyone on ignore-they haven't been in the same fights we have so step off

How do you know if someone you have on ignore has been tombstoned?
I see people saying things like, "I was going through my ignore list today and so-and-so was TS'd" all the time. Do you have to go through and look at the profile of each person to see which accounts are still active?

That's what I thought but with so many posts about it I didn't know if maybe a graphic appeared in your list stating an account was no longer active. I wonder how people manage to keep up when they have 100's of people on ignore?

I ignore threads in mass. I find that works best for me and helps to cut down on the litter. I see no reason speak out about someone feeling the need to ignore a poster to make their experience at DU more pleasurable. If it works for you, or any other person here, then it's a good thing.

...I've been on the board a long time...was sitting out the last few months, but still lurking (which is in my profile)...I have seen some rough things as well, and have tried to avoid taking anything personally. I am not trying to offend you or anyone else, and I don't flame much...I've got my opinions, support Obama completely, but am often guilty of forgetting the :sarcasm: icon.

I never had anyone on ignore until this primary season.
I do it now so that I
1. maintain normal blood pressure
2. don't spend an inordinate amount of time arguing with those who will not change their mind and they are unlikely to change mine.
3. So *I* don't receive a granite cookie because of an ill-timed angry response.
Anyway, I plan on taking everyone off ignore just as soon as we have an official (or presumptive) nominee. After that, then we'll see. I suspect that some will drop the subject and support our nominee... and the rest will go away.
I'm quite sure that I am on a number of ignore lists... but it doesn't bother me at all.

40. No ignore list here... I was shocked one day when I saw "ignored" respond to |
|
one of my posts because I didn't think I had ANYONE on there... I had to look to see who it was... then after one exchange with him, I remembered *why* I put him on ignore... but I didn't put him back on after that...
I prefer to ignore people by just not responding to their posts. I'm sure I'm on quite a few ignore lists though. Does it bother me? Not in the least....
I've found that I can disagree with someone on one subject, but be in full agreement with them on 10 other subjects, so there's no reason to ignore, you just have to agree to disagree.... you know..; like grown-ups ... or something...

|
Actually, I don't think it works like that, does it? :P
Blah, ignore lists are teh suck. At least here on DU I don't see the purpose. The place is pretty well monitored so if someone is just being flat out annoying (the only reason why I would ignore someone) then I'm sure they'd be dealt with quickly... And since I don't believe in ignoring people just because they have difference in opinions (no matter how stupid their opinion may be), I don't see any need to use such features.
Then again, even in less monitored and highly troll infested sites, I tend not to use block/ignore features because blocking tends to give equal satisfaction to people who are trying to get a reaction... Although, if I'm not mistaken, here on DU the other party isn't made aware, right?

but reading some of the discussions, I can see why people may find it useful. I don't mind reading their crap, I'll just ignore it on my own. A few months ago, someone sent me a rather unpleasant PM asking me a few asinine questions, but when I tried to respond, they had their PM blocked. That bugged the hell out of me. If you don't want to get PM's, don't send them.
