"Staying busy?" he really disgusts me
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070301/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush;_ylt=Aq1eLMZO6wV3EGp5tDtfuGlI2ocA
...
Bush began his trip in Mississippi by touring five homes in a Long Beach neighborhood. He gave an American flag to Ernie and Cheryl Woodward, who rebuilt their home with the help of a federal grant.

"People's lives are improving, and there is hope," he said.

The sentiment is not shared by many who live along the storm's brutal path — particularly in New Orleans. Crime has soared and health care is limited. Large numbers of residents are so frustrated they are thinking of getting out for good. Bush got a friendly reception, though, as he walked from house to house in the southern Mississippi neighborhood.

"Staying busy?" he asked a construction crew. One of the workers told him the crew was still working on the same block of the neighborhood a year and a half after the storm. ...

Ha. Ha. Ha. He is so cute and funny, jokin' with those workers. What a jerk.

4. Translation from Newspeak...
"People's lives are improving, and there is hope," =

Peoples lives are worsening and there is despair.

"Staying busy?" =

"Wasting time?"

6. How many flags did he bring?
Maybe he could tape a bunch of them together to make a tent for somebody who still doesn't have a house to live in. That at least would accomplish something.

7. and he could leave the generator behind ...
... instead of whisking it away again and plunging the place back into darkness, once his photo-op lighting was dismantled?

"In New Orleans' Jackson Square to deliver his major speech, Bush appeared in an open-collared shirt, sleeves rolled up, as the man of the people ready for work. The square was brilliantly lit for his speech, but when he left the electricity was turned off and the deserted city plunged again into darkness."

As described by Brian Williams ...
"I am duty-bound to report the talk of the New Orleans warehouse district last night: there was rejoicing (well, there would have been without the curfew, but the few people I saw on the streets were excited) when the power came back on for blocks on end. Kevin Tibbles was positively jubilant on the live update edition of Nightly News that we fed to the West Coast. The mini-mart, long ago cleaned out by looters, was nonetheless bathed in light, including the empty, roped-off gas pumps. The motorcade route through the district was partially lit no more than 30 minutes before POTUS drove through. And yet last night, no more than an hour after the President departed, the lights went out. The entire area was plunged into total darkness again, to audible groans."

Maureen Dowd was appalled ...
"In a ruined city - still largely without power, stinking with piles of garbage and still 40 percent submerged; where people are foraging in the miasma and muck for food, corpses and the sentimental detritus of their lives; and where unbearably sad stories continue to spill out about hordes of evacuees who lost their homes and patients who died in hospitals without either electricity or rescuers - isn't it rather tasteless, not to mention a waste of energy, to haul in White House generators just to give the president a burnished skin tone and a prettified background?"
