Online link to the entire Reverend Wright interview with Bill Moyers |
|
That was excellent. I'd only seen the sound bites of the man. The US media really sucks - but not Bill Moyers. http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/04252008/watch.html

It seems to me that it's a very good thing to spread word of a particulary quality program. Why the eyeroll?

I thought a post with the link in an OP would be easiest to find. I could take it down if there's already an OP linking to the PBS video?

10. That interview was NOT about Obama |
|
That interview was thoughtful on so many levels - a look at the state of the media, theology, racial issues.
Talk about missing the point. Did you happen to watch the thing - or are you just having a knee jerk reaction?

28. But see - you don't know what you're talking about because you won't watch it |
|
The interview is good because it addresses some very interesting points relevant to our culture. Points about community, history, theology and race.
Bill Moyers' has some commonality with Reverend Wright and his genuine interest comes across. The purpose clearly isn't 'damage control'. Although I hope it *will* serve that purpose for Reverend Wright - after watching the interview it's clear he doesn't deserve the treatment he's getting from the media. In fact, the interview serves as a sort of mirror to what is wrong with the media and Moyers shows how good it *could* be. It has NOTHING to do with benefiting Obama. If you watch it you'd understand that.

Just a thought.

30. It wasn't about spin or damage control. It was about the truth. It was an amazing interview. |
|
You are embarassing yourself by talking about what you don't know. And I had not seen a link, by the way. Things get duped.
The interview was about the truth of what Wright has said and how it has been completely distorted by our media and bone-headed national discourse. Obama didn't come up almost at all, if at all (I missed the very, very beginning).

|
for the rw, he's also getting death threats so i can see why the mods would leave it here and really the interview had very little to do with Obama. We have so many dupe threads in GD all the time so i guess i'm just used to it and i just either ignore or use hide thread when i get tired of seeing them.

Now was better with him, but they still cover a ton a crucial stories that no one else touches. Plus, we have Moyer's own show. It's a two-fer.
I feel the same way when a band I love breaks up and it's members go on and do different projects. I go from having one cool band to potentially a handful of cool bands, all spawned from a supposed negative. :)

I dont see the problem with the sermon's Wright said. I see no problem at all after seeing them in the ENTIRE Context. And it is a shame that the media cut out almost 55 minutes of the interview and only bothered to show the last five minutes.

it;s really disheartening when you stop and think about how fucked over we really are, controlled information so the networks can sell more Tide or ppaper towels. The biggest bias in the media imo is The Corporate bias.

38. I haven't watched Wright on t.v.-only on YouTube. I refuse to watch the corporate media. |
|
So you can't say that "everyone" is swayed by the corporate bastards on cnn or msnbc.
Tonight, I saw a few minutes of the Moyers Wright interview, and will probably go over to YouTube and watch the entire thing later.
In the few minutes I saw, I did note that Wright was calm and yes, well spoken.
But that doesn't excuse his rabid screeching attacks in the past.
I'm agnostic and the last thing I want to do is listen to another preacher dude mix politics and religion.
But I will go and watch the video on YouTube, so I can be better informed.
But it probably won't change my mind about Wright.

32. But how can it be better for us to have the truth constantly denied? |
|
I remember when Paul Wellstone, my senator, stood up and voted against the IRW, even though he knew it could cost him his re-election. He did it anyway, because he was more interested in truth than his political career.
Obama should have honored Rev. Wright and stood up for the truth that Wright was expressing, unconditionally.
