2. The Constitution predates the Scalia family in this country. |
|
As it does many families.

6. This is just one of the things we have |

to continue putting up with if we don't elect a Democrat.

Even if we elect a Democratic President and a 100% Democratic Congress and Senate, unless the influence of money is purged from government there never will be an end to the posturing, foot-dragging and duplicitous conniving which has brought us to the doorstep of a fascist dictatorship. And nothing short of the threat of violent revolution will bring about real change.
What is needed is public financing of all federal and state elections and severe criminal penalties against any political candidate or incumbent accepting any form of "contribution" (bribe), gratuity or favor -- and the same penalties for anyone who offers material inducement to a public official.
Whereas wealth is power and excessive wealth manifests as excessive power, there needs to be a limit on the amount of personal assets any citizen may accumulate. I suggest twenty million dollars as a hypothetical point of discussion, subject to review and revision.
I realize these are radical proposals but I believe these measures are necessary to preserve the essence and substance of America as we have known it and wish it to survive.

8. Amen to that, the most important thing regarding this - |
|
election, are future Supreme Court nominations. Even Hillary has a better chance at putting in moderate Dem Justices. Bush did some terrible damage to our court and another 'Thug will only continue to seed the court with neo-cons (can't even call them conservatives, *real* conservatives may still suck but are 1000's of times better than Neo-Con(artists).)
The country desperatly *needs* a Democrat in office (preferably *not* Hillary IMHO) as President.
Cheers Sandy
