Just got back from Fort Wayne Indiana .... |
|
(about 50 or so miles from where I live), saw 2 political signs 2 for Mitt Romney (both in the same yard) 1 for Obama, gas prices in every gas station was 375.9 except Wal-Mart was 359.9 (go figure), traffic was very light and we stopped at a very popular restaurant for lunch right at lunch time (12:15 to be exact) and it was very slow business wise. Usually we have to stand in line at this particular place. Oh and stopped at a carry-out on the way home, guy in front of us complaining about the price of gas "people won't be able to mow their lawn as much":banghead: Just thought I'd let every one know what's going on in middle America! Have a wonderful day! PEACE! :patriot:

3. what would one expect from the hometown of Major Frank Burns? |
|
Bloomington is the only civilized town in an otherwise dullard state comprised on right wing freaks.

7. Well isn't that special.... |
|
You can cast judgement on a whole town of 570,000 people because it is the hometown a FICTIONAL character in a crappy TV series from 30 years ago.
How progressive.
You disgust me.

Lake County is the only county in Indiana with a registered Democratic majority. In fact, there's very little difference between Hammond, EC (East Chicago), Gary and the city of Chicago.
on edit: Bloomington is not in Lake County

8. 0.9 cents!!! This is bit off topic, but why the hell do gas stations still play the 0.9 cent game? |
|
Many signposts can't display more than 3 digits so the dollar digit is left off. Hey, is the gas 299.9 cents per gallon today, or 399.9 cents? Still they gotta remind us that every damned gallon of gas will not round up to the next penny.
Everything in our stupid marketing culture fears rounding up, say 99 cents to 1 dollar. Or buy a product at $499.99... whew that sure is cheaper than $500!
This is a pet peeve of mine.
For cryin-out-loud, who gives a rats-ass about a freakin' tenth of a penny!

10. Any tenth's can be accumulated into the final taxes paid to the Government. |
|
It does not have to be part of the sale price. That is entirely up to the discretion of the sellers.

11. something from marketing 101... when most people see 399.9, they see |
|
and think 399, it's a marketing ploy to make people think it's less. That is also why you see " get such n such for under $100, when it's $99 or even $99.95 it's still technically under $100.

14. Exactly-- a marketing ploy |
|
"$99.95" sounds significantly cheaper than "one hundred dollars" to a lot of people.
