RESERVE -- Authorities say the death of a woman whose body was found hanging from a tree branch in Reserve is being investigated as a homicide, although there is no evidence of foul play.

1. The body was decomposing, thus the victim had to have been missing for a while

Actually, my first thought was, "Oh great. Son of Jena", though the victim's race isn't stated.

2. the rumor is that there is a serial killer (5 women dead in the area)

apparently several dead bodies of women have been found there recently, this is not part of orleans parish and these murders wouldn't be included in news reports about the many new orleans murders

there is some grumbling about the st. john parish sheriff's dept. at the moment, as you might imagine

the area seems to have become, if nothing else, a dumping ground for women's bodies
