2. I remember it. Thats why I know this time its just a ripoff |
|
No shortages, no lines, no rationing, but the oil traders keep claiming high prices are justified because demand is out stripping supply.
Bullcrap.

But back then, $3.00 would get you somewhere in the area of 1/2 tank.
What pisses me off is, the gas stations right off the NJ turnpike charge at least .20 cents more per gallon. So, tell me this isn't bullshit?!?!?!

7. That is why this supply and demand crap for justifying high prices is bull |
|
You don't see lines at the gas stations and stations closing because they don't have gas like in the late 70's.
They can make all the gas we need to keep fueling our beasts, they are just reaping the profits because they have the protection of the bu$h regime.

11. Kind of OT (about peak oil) |
|
Has anyone heard of the theory that's kind of being tossed around that oil isn't actually from the dinos and a finite product? Rather, this theory suggests that oil might be something the earth produces on-going.
Regardless, we need alternative energy to stop spewing the gunk into the air.

12. I do. I was in college in central CA and commuting to home |
|
on the coast.
It was ugly. It took hours of being in line and even then, no guarantee you could gas up when it was your turn.
Same year, no beef.

14. Three dollar limit at that station!!!! That ain't even a GALLON today. |
|
Who remembers EVEN ODD???
If you didn't have two cars with even-odd plates, you could have problems if you had a long commute. If you did, you could use this giant siphon to take the gas out of one car and put it in the other.
Gas THEFT was common. Punks would puncture your gas tank if you had a lock on the tank, and drain the gas into a pan. Bastards!

18. I remember the long gas lines, too in California |
|
At least fifty cars ahead of me and one to two hour waits just to buy gas. I never really understood what was going on or why it got so extreme, so quickly, back in the late 1970s.
